In regards to Billy Walker putting up good numbers for the value fantasy players, just remember that he is doing it for a poor team while playing for an NBA contract. He has not been scouted out yet. He puts up great numbers in a losing cause.

We used to have a player like that: Brandon Hunter. He got scouted and we never heard from him again.

I'm not saying that Billy Walker will be a flash in the pan like Brandon Hunter was but the Celtics were willing to part with him for a reason. Looks like Nate Robinson could help us.
The beatings will continue until morale improves

  • You know my methods, Watson.
I'll cut my own rod off if Scal scored 20 in back to back games on any team in the league

That statement definitely required some serious cohones.

nah...that's a safe bet if i ever saw one.

Wow - I was about to say that I was pretty sure Scal's career high was below 20 points - but I looked it up and he dropped TWENTY NINE against the Warriors in 2005. Golden State should be ASHAMED ahahahaaha.
Grab a few boards, keep the TO's under 14, close out on shooters and we'll win.

If people are going to mock the logic that one or two huge games means he's a future all-star, then what gives you the right to counter with the premise that the guy stinks because he's having average or below average games? Ever heard of a role player? Did you even watch the game?

Personally I'm not commenting on how he played because I didn't see the game, but if you have any other insights to share besides what I can already see from the box score then by all means share them. Otherwise what's the point of making posts like that?

well im a native new yorker and watch most knick games.. and the fact of the matter is that most were flipping out because he scored 20 points in back to back games therefore i have the right to point out when he scores 8 points in 25 minutes... also he played 2 minutes in the fourth quarter simply because dantoni doesnt trust him... toney douglas was getting his minutes too so its not like it was an established guy...

If people can flip out over 21, then i think i can tell when he scores 8 and doesnt get any type of crunch time minutes

Eh, be the bigger man. Plus, 8 isn't nearly as bad as 20 is good, especially when you're talking about a guy who is getting his first consistent NBA playing time ever. But again, points aren't everything. Does anyone know how he's been playing besides just the scoring?

hes been playing ZERO defense... but hes just trying to fit in with the rest of his teammates  ;D

Thank god for a post that makes sense! TP for you.

All I've been trying to say all along is that he'll be a good player based on what I've seen. He's athletic, has good size, he can shoot it and get to the basket, and dunks anything even remotely near the rim.

If his defense isn't up to par it's because 1)he's a 2nd year player 2)he now plays for the knicks, so that doesn't help.

So really, all the tools are there. And that's what I'm basing my prediction off of. But I'll admit having a couple of 20 point games the first time he gets serious minutes doesn't really hurt, either.

Sure, you can make the argument that he's also had a couple of not so great games, but that's part of learning to play the game. The important thing is that the 20 point games have shown HE HAS IT IN HIM.

For what it's worth, anybody know what Gabe Pruitt's career high was? Aside from lacking the physical tools of Bill Walker, I'll bet he never scored over 20 points, ever.

Plenty of guys score 20 points every now and again and are terrible.

Predicting Bill's career is premature, as was this thread. He has an interesting tool set, and who knows, he could develop into a solid bench guy somewhere. Simply put, it's too early to call anything in Bill's career.

I do have to admit though, when you put up a pat on the back thread and then the player goes out there and sucks for 4 straight games...I kinda think you have to grin and bear a bit of ribbing man.

Not saying he won't be a solid bench player or in the short term give you another 20+ er to crow about in this thread, but for now,  quote wyatt at 3:20 in:

Acie Earl once scored 40

Gerald Green once scored 33

Kevinn Pinkney scored 15 in his pro debut

Allan Ray on three separate occasions scored more than 20 points

Orien Greene once had back to back games of 14 points

Being able to score  some points in a game or three or dunk anything around the basket doesn't make one a viable NBA player as the point totals of the preceding players can attest to

Pick 2 Knicks
