I'd prefer Hinrich too, but I think any Hinrich deal involves Ray, and I also think you can get both Hinrich and Nate if you want to.  Nate is really a SG in a (tiny) PG body, and Hinrich is a big, true PG.  So coming off the bench, they could certainly play together.

The problem is, I just don't think they are interested in Hinrich's contract.

Yeah and I don't want to give up Ray for Hinrich, maybe if it involes Deng too but that is a big maybe.
I'd trade Ray for Deng/Hinrich in a heartbeat.

Yeah I'm starting to lean that way too but I wish the Bulls still had Ben Gordon, because I would have loved to do a Ray for Hinrich and Gordon swap.
Why?

Both Hinrich and Gordon are overpaid for what they bring.

Don't be surprised at all if Danny is still trying to work a deal with Nate attached that doesn't involve him in green.  Just a thought.

You really think Danny doesn't want Nate?

Chicago's top priority ahead of the deadline is clearing Kirk Hinrich, according to a report from the Daily Herald's Mike McGraw.

The Bulls are trying to clear additional cap space for this summer.

I'd rather have Hinrich than Nate, although they each bring different skills to the table.  It sounds like Chicago may be motivated to move him just for expiring contracts, and there's a chance that we could have worked something out with Eddie / Scal / Giddens.

Of course, it's harder to pull off a 3-for-1 type of deal, and Hinrich has a bad contract.  Still, all things being equal, I'd prefer Hinrich.

We still have TA and Williams to use.

Yeah, but I don't think it makes a ton of sense to bring in two PGs, especially if we're moving Tony.  I think by adding Nate, you basically preclude trading for Hinrich.

Hinrich plays off the ball as well, and can play the PG when we have a tough matchup defensively for Nate. He can pretty much guard 3 positions (limited at the 3).

No, I think Danny thinks Nate can help us, but I'm just not sold on this not being some smokescreen or chip of some sort.

I'm just trying to think outside of the box because generally what we hear is only 1/4 of the real story.

Totally disagree with that.  Deng's the better player and his ceiling is higher.

Fresh ideas are always a good thing.  The thing to keep in mind, though, is that Nate would have to sign off on any trade, and he's apparently only willing to go to Boston or LA.

I use to believe that also, until I saw what Gordon did to us in the playoffs last year.

Also I did not realize that Gordon was older the Deng.

Question though. Nate already lost his bird-rights, does he still keep his no-trade clause with his new team? I would think yes, but will like clarification on this.

Yup, by a wide margin too. Deng is a complete team player, Ben Gordon is a scorer that's all.

I haven't watched Deng much this year and since his injury last season so you guys are probably right, but I do remember what Gordon did last year to us.

It really seems like the Bulls have been dragging their feet here.

You think that they would be a little more urgency on their part if they truly want to make a run at a max FA in the offseason.

That being said, they'll probably have something done by 3pm but I'll be interested to see how its ends up.
Assuming Salmons is traded for expiring contracts, isn't the only thing the Bulls have to do is move Thomas' contract or renounce him to have the space for a max free agent next summer

On the books for next year($ in Millions per year)

Rose $5.5
Noah $3.1
Gibson $1.1
Deng $11.3
Hinrich $9.0
Johnson $1.7

6 caps holds of slightly less than $500K - $3

Total: $34.7

That should be plenty under the cap for Wade

Pick 2 Knicks

PG: George Hill, Ty Lawson
SG: Ray Allen, Anthony Parker, Quentin Richardson
SF: Grant Hill, Matt Barnes, D
PF: Zach Randolph, Kenyon Martin, Jon Brockman, Dante Cunningham
C:  Nene Hilario,   Own rights: Nikola Pekovic IR: Kyle Weaver

Why are you putting so much stock in a single playoff series, especially one where Gordon had many bad games? Don't let a few timely shots cloud your vision.

The title of this thread is misguided. We have not jumped the gun because the trade is not final. Until it is final, we can continue negotiating with multiple teams and nothing is binding.

Danny can still change his mind.

24.3 points per game in that playoff series is pretty darn good.

Gordon did not have many bad games in that series at all but you are right and I should look more at his body of work not one playoff series.
