I read on here that KG is terrible and has been all year.

Then I go to hoopdata.com and see that he leads the team in win shares/game and is a close second to Rondo in PER.

Surely that's a mistake, because I just read in the Sports Guy's column that he's untradeable!  And in this thread he's only played even decent in 5 or 10 games out of the first 51!

Then I go to 82games.com and see that he leads the team in Net PER and on-court +/-, is second in net +/-, and leads the team in Roland rating.

Well those are just math geeks, what do they know.  Then, I think back to how this season the Celtics' record corresponds almost exactly with his health.  If he hasn't been doing anything all year, why did the team's struggles start when he went down?

Clearly KG isn't currently what we'd need him to be if we're going to win 18.  Also clearly, he is only a few weeks removed from his last injury absence.  Three weeks into the season there was a similar clamoring that KG was washed up too, then suddenly he started making those alley-oops and the team was unbeatable again.

Give it some time.  He's terrible and done forever and should be shut down for the season to be replaced by Scal or Shelden.  Good grief, y'all...hyperbole much?

I thought it would take KG around a month to get his legs back after the injury + sitting out all that time. Possibly 6 weeks.

Garnett only came back towards the back end of January so I'm not considered about his inability to regain his form/athleticism yet.

If the situation remains the same in 2-3 weeks time, I will be very concerned then.

no matter how bad KG is, he's still got more going for him than Scal...  ;)
Please do not compare KG to Scal. That is way too depressing.

I think he's having confidence and endurance issues. He clearly doesn't want the ball as much on offense.

He doesn't feel right.
He's got no lift, he's turning down shots and defensively has no lateral quickness.  Last night he got stuffed several times.  He's never been an inside scorer, but he looks like a guy trying to get by on smarts and experience only.

Right now he's a shell of what he was.

I don't know if you guys remember but both Doc and Danny said it would take until near the end of the season for KG to return to 100%. And by 100% mean health wise. I still believe KG will never be the player he was but I do believe he will get better.

Guys I think I was suffering from the same injury KG suffered last year & it looks like this year. I was also 33 when I noticed I had little explosion left from my once 42inch vertical. I could barely dunk, my leg seemed heavy & I was super stiff running up & down the floor. Unlike KG though I could feel my athletic jumping ability only on rebounds in which it was totally instinctive without thought. My teammates would say I was way above the rim on certain rebounds & blocks, but on the offensive end I had lost all confidence & I felt I couldn't no longer sky. Im 34 about to be 35 now & I have regained most of that explosion with alot of weight training work. I did it all myself w/out a physical trainer so I am confident that the Celtic trainers will indeed get KG back to 80-85% of his fromer ability. I played pro football until I was 27 & also suffered multiple leg injuries so it can happen for him if he can get over it mentally. That is the toughest part is believing you can still perform at a high level. KG look into Lunges & Power cleans!

Scal at this moment is a better defender than KG.
