TP for Andy Jick and I agree re KG laying it down right now. He's doing what he can.

1. I also agree he must have had a more serious injury than we know. Which kind of p---es me off cause we arent' getting the truth.

2. KG is an uber athlete though. Even with all the minutes he's played, I don't think they'd have him out there if he wasn't fully healthy, structurally. I may agree with the torn ligament or partially torn ligament theory.
Look how long it took TA to come back with most of his prior
athleticism.

3. I'd be very hestitant to count KG out if he's structurally sound in the knee but it's just time and working through it. Guy has too much heart, can't count him out. He could be a Lion again come May/June. mistake to ever count guys like KG out until they don't walk onto the court anymore.

It took Ray a season to fully recover from having his spurs removed and he didn't have an injury setback that season so I'm optimistic KG will get better with time. Not to the KG of 2008. At the very least to the level he was when he started hitting his stride earlier this season.
Tommy: He's got a line about me. Tell him the line.

Mike: Everybody 60 or over knows Tommy as a player. Everybody 40 or over knows Tommy as a coach. Everybody 20 or over knows Tommy as a broadcaster. And everybody 10 or under thinks he's Shrek.

KG was a +18 last night.  I personally don't care how he LOOKS doing it. Yes, I would prefer about a +21 from him consistently, and I think that is REALISTIC to expect.

I would be more concerned that our other All-Stars performed so poorly:  Rondo = +11 and PP = +13.  Also, Perk was a measly +4 and Ray was  +5.  Pathetic.

Why is it always about KG??

I don't care how athletic or pretty he looks, as long as he is playing great team defense, shooting a high percentage, and giving us close to double digit rebounds.

Exactly a KG at 1/2 power is still more useful than Ray.  His passing alone is big plus for the team (well that is when the receiver can actually finish).
Little Fockers 1.5/10
Gulliver's Travels 1/10
Grown Ups -20/10
Tron Legacy 6.5/10

Antonio McDyess also looked washed up after his injuries at an older age and he gained back a lot of his explosiveness and is still a solid PF in the NBA and is a few years older than KG.

The crazy part is that people keep forgetting that he missed about 10 games just recently. And for as bad as he is, he's 53.6% from the field in the month of February, turning the ball over once per game, and he just came from Sacramento grabbing 9 rebounds in 31 minutes of play. He's averaging 12 points a game, which is nothing to sniff at... not KG-like numbers, but more than "terrible".

Again, the exaggeration going around here boggles my mind. Of course, KG isn't were he's supposed to be, and certainly has ways to go getting back into form (to whatever form he'll manage to get) but his demise has been completely overstated.

You can't just look at the FG%

KG is not nearly as effective on offense as he was even 2 seasons ago.

- He no longer is able to get on the fast break with Rondo, which makes us a very slow team
- He no longer can play in the low post on offense
- Can't finish alley oops
- Hardly ever gets an offensive rebound or put back dunk

He has lost it and its understandable, the guy has played over 40000 intense mins. Be realistic about it , its not going to get much better than this...

Of course he's not the KG we know, but that he's terrible is just completely wrong. And again, he just came back from another injury that kept him away for some weeks.

I think he looks pretty bad just about any PF in the league can take him off the dribble. Guys who have played that many mins don't get better they get worse. You can disagree, but just go look at just about every player in the history of the NBA who has played that many mins

He can't jump and move latterally , that's the problem and that doesn't improve with age. He has been back for 3 weeks now and nothing has changed....

It's not just his age. He had knee surgery last summer. Most players don't get back to full strength the first year after surgery. If KG was healthier net year than he is today or even healthier in May than he is today it wouldn't be age-defying, it would be a normal recovery.

Ok.....

If you expect a 34 year old big man who is in top 20 all time mins played is going to recover to be even 75% of what he was even 2 years ago, you are going to be really dissapointed. He has been playing in the NBA for 15 years.

His game depended on his athleticism and he just doest have it anymore

Funny, I saw a 34 year old big man who is in top 20 all time mins played recover to be more than 75% of what he was even 2 years ago in December. How'd that happen? He wasn't too old to get better then, but now it's completely out of the question? That extra 300-400 minutes pushed him over the edge somehow?

KG looked much better to me in December before this most recent injury. Even then however, his defense had clearly regressed from his DPOY form in 2007-2008, but offensively he looked close. I'm hoping for a return to pre-Xmas KG. A return to 2007-8 KG seems unlikely for the rest of this year if ever.

KG is the man, hes playing hard out there. yes he moves a little different than before and sometimes when he falls over or runs down the court  i cringe, he flat out looks old.. but he is still productive..

not that big of a deal..

yes, he plays very hard, but his defense is just not there. He doesn't (can't) stay in front of anyone, and guys jump over him all the time. He reaches and grabs a whole lot more to compensate, and his offense is just bad. His jumper is gone, and when he posts up or tries to finish in front of the rim he falls off balance and/or gets blocked. I really hope he gets back to the december KG this year or we are done.

I would say that if we truly aren't going to blow this thing up and start fresh then the best thing we could do is shut KG down the rest of the season. Let the guy work with trainers to get himself back to 100%. If you didn't believe it before, those 3 blocked dunk attempts last night at the rim should tell you he isn't anywhere near healthy. He may not be at risk of re-injuring himself, but he sure isn't playing well. His defense is bad, he's not much of a shot blocking threat. He isn't scoring very well. Let Scal play his spot, or BBD or Shelden if you prefer, and  put ourselves in a position for us to compete next year. Barring them trading Amare for KG it isn't going to happen this year anyway.
