From RicBucher: Three-way deal: Telfair/Jamison to Cavs; Z, Al Thornton, Cle's 1st rder to Was; Drew Gooden to Clippers. Multiple sources say it's done.

I imagine Skinner would get bought out, saving Washington a little more cash.

He's a guy I'd consider adding. No world beater, but he's made a career in the league from hard work and rebounding.

Whew. So glad they got Jamison and not Amare. Breathed a deep sigh of relief.

honestly, Jamison scares me more... I wasn't 100% convinced that round 2 of Amar'e and Shaq would work. But Jamison is exactly what they need, a 4 that can really stretch the floor to compliment Shaq playing in the post.

+1. I think Jamison is more scary than Amare on that Cleveland team...

To some extent, I agree.  But let's remember that Cleveland's title hopes now become nearly as tenuous as Boston's, as their Jamison is older than PP and KG, and Shaq is much older than anyone on the C's.  If Big Z isn't bought out, this team is an injury or two away from getting knocked out in the second round again.

What, you don't hold high hopes for the 30th pick in the draft? :P

I'm hopeful the league will close the "buyout and re-sign" loophole in the next CBA; it makes a mockery of "trades" (and yes, the Celtics were one of the first beneficiaries of this, in the Antoine/Payton deal.)

Basically, the Cavs trade Big Z and a 1st for Jamison, and the high probability chance to resign Big Z when bought out by Washington.
Celtics fan for life.

I think this is cleveland throwing the kitchen sink at getting lebron his championship and hence keeping him in a cavs uniform.  If they don't win (and I still don't think they can) he'll probably jump ship for $$$ and a major city PERIOD.

--OK, rumor is Clips will buy him out.

Have to disagree with you here. If a player gets bought out, he should have a choice to play for whomever he chooses.

I wonder if Cavs have just freed Clippers cap space to sign LeBron this summer....

I think Grunfeld made out in this deal. I didn't think he'd have a snowball's chance of getting rid of Jamison's contract, but he was able to do so AND get a 1st round pick out of the deal. AND they got a possible piece for the future in Thornton.

So they got a 1st rounder for Jamison and not Butler? That's what is boggling my mind.
That was the price of dumping DeShawn Stevenson.

I think the rule should be if any other team makes the guy an offer he cannot sign with the original team until the next offseason.  That, or extend the "comeback period" to 3 months instead of 1.  I'm all for players being able to resign after a buyout but this is a loophole that needs to at least be partly closed.

Which would you rather have if you're Washington: Hickson or Thornton?
