Cleveland just won the Eastern Conference.

The question is whether they can beat LA.

Do they still matchup as well with the Lakers as they did prior to the move? Or, does Jamison's poor defense give the Lakers an advantage again?

cavs get to keep hickson and will Z back...get a stretch 4 and they dont give up anything

What, you don't hold high hopes for the 30th pick in the draft? :P

I'm hopeful the league will close the "buyout and re-sign" loophole in the next CBA; it makes a mockery of "trades" (and yes, the Celtics were one of the first beneficiaries of this, in the Antoine/Payton deal.)

Have to disagree with you here. If a player gets bought out, he should have a choice to play for whomever he chooses.

Not when it's essentially allowing teams to circumvent the salary cap.  The league has already indicated its displeasure with this (first with the 30 day restriction before re-signing, then with the threat to hold up the original Jason Kidd to Dallas deal after Jerry Stackhouse mentioned he was going to be traded, bought out, and would then re-sign with the Mavs.)

I don't think it does, especially when it comes down to it they can bench Antwan.

Will Mike Brown be strong enough to do that if his play calls for it? I have my doubts....

Does anyone else find it sickening that Lebron James has to sign off on all the trades they make?

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
Whew. So glad they got Jamison and not Amare. Breathed a deep sigh of relief.

I agree, Studz is a much scarier thought.... Here's to us getting him and J Rich now.

I agree with the sigh of relief in them getting Jamison instead of Amare. It may give them a great chance to win this year, but I don't see any way Lebron stays now. If they had gotten Amare, they would have had a true second superstar to put next to Lebron, now they are just getting an aging semi-star.

I do think they are the favorites in the east this year, but their demise could come really fast now.

it is obvious the amare talk was to drive down the price of jamison.....that allowed them to keep hickson....the cavs are stacked:

PG williams, west, gibson
SG Parker, Moon
SF James, hickson, jawad williams
PF Jamison, varajo, powe
C Shaq, big Z

Jamison for a pick. Brutal.

This is what I find sickening.

The Cavs can get a major piece for their championship effort, essentially by trading a late first round pick and taking on a long term contract.

Meanwhile the only trade we can manage to improve our faltering, aged team is for a SG in a tiny-PG's body who can score a bunch of points in an uptempo system.

Yeah...  They have a relatively short window, but they're the team to beat this year.

Who should Danny trade Ray for that is going to preserve our viability for those 2-3 years?

If a young star is available for Ray's contract, I'm sure Danny will pull the trigger.
