I don't understand this trade if they already have Raja Bell, unless they're trying to free up cap space. I rather this trade though... http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=yky3esu  ;D
Does Raja Bell even play? He really doesn't bring much to the table for a bad team like GS.

This move would be completely about getting rid of Ellis' contract and attitude. They would get a guy back who can still score and who is expiring. Not only that, but Ray Allen has little contract leverage next season unless he resigns using Bird rights. Otherwise, he is unlikely to get more the the MLE.

Where there is smoke there is fire. Danny must be throwing Ray's name around in trade talks if GW had the notion that Ray was Even available. Danny has something up his sleeve

I would turn down Ellis and VladRad.  I would demand Bell instead.

Yes, Ellis has question marks.  So Does Ray Allen because of his age.

Actually I would prefer Iguodala, but Philly is highly unlikely to trade him within the division.

Agreed...

Scariest thing about him is that the Warriors are WAYYY better when he is not on the floor.
He's averaging 42 minutes a game, so the raw on/off court numbers cannot be taken at face value. Two sample sizes that are way out of wack.

Haha, plus if you look at the top 5 man units there isn't even one without him on it.

Everytime i think of maybe trading Ray i remember what he has/can do in big games especially when the post season starts...no matter how you try to get around it theres no replacing experience.Id rather figure a way to hold on to Ray because i feel he will be worth his weight in gold come crunch time.

Ellis and Vlad Rad is a "Wyc wants to cut payroll" move, and it stinks.

Ellis and Maggette for Ray and some of our expirings is something I'd take some time to mull over.

Anything else, like the original deal, is horrible.

My fascination with the possibilities here is the opportunity to get Randolph in the package and vet help for the bench this year. This 3 team trade allows us to get younger, better(+11 wins) and win ring(s) NOW. For those of you that can't get trade machine to work right...
Boston gets Battier,Randolph,Cook,Ellis and Maggette
Houston gets House,Tony and Scal
GS gets Ray,BBD and Giddens
Another working salary idea is Ariza instead of Battier(but I prefer Battier to win now with his experience) Take a look at the vastly improved roster. Chemistry would be the deciding factor to how many championships could be won...

Rondo, Daniels
Maggette, Ellis
Pierce, Battier(or Ariza), Walker
KG, Randolph, Cook
Perk, Sheed, Sheldon
Can't stop, Rondo!

I think more and more-the reason Ray gets to hit big shots at the end of games, is because he misses so many shots DURING the game--if he Actually hit those shots(like in his prime)---we wouldn't need a bail out shot at the end...Bring on MONTA......or just wait til JJ Reddick Shuts Ray down in this year's playoffs-!!

As I think about it, we would be getting the better player, which would make it a good trade for us.  I would insist on the other match-up contract being expiring to keep our total salary from spiking next year, but I'd have to do it, after listening to what else is out there...this is a deal I would take.  It shouldn't take much mulling over, really, to lock up a talented scorer for the long term at a reasonable contract.  We'd still contend this year, and have a better shot next year, while still having the MLE available to lock in a bench player or two.  It's really almost a no brainer.

Any way we can pull a 3-way deal with Philly and GSW?  Ehhh.

I still hesitate to move Ray.  I don't envy Danny when this stuff comes up.

Now you are talking...Monta is good, but Iggy is awesome. Imagine the defensive future of this team with Rondo, Iggy, and Perk...and KG has a few years left...geez. I have been iffy on a lot of these Ray deals. I agree with Roy when he says that Ray is vastly underrated at CB, but no player as good as Iguodala has been mentioned...

Danny HAS to explore getting a bona fide STAR for Ray Allen's contract---worse case,we stay where we're at.

I doubt that many of us would agree on what it takes to make a player a "star", and as much as we often disagree when evaluating a player, could never agree that a player achieved that standard(beyond the obvious Wade, Lebra, etc.).

Try defining these key terms:

All star

Superstar

Star

Franchise player

Key piece (usually associated with title teams)

Special Player

To give some familiar examples...Big Al is probably a star, but not a superstar, and likely isn't a franchise player, but will most likely be an all-star at some point???  His salary is around that 10-11 million as well, along with Ellis, Ben Gordon, Okafor, and, next year, Rondo.  Ray makes much more than that as a 12 year vet, so other players would have to be included, either adding talent, dead weight on the cap, or as another expiring.

So...what sort of "star" would be a fair exchange of Ray?  We are not likely to snag a franchise player, superstar, or even a current all star for him.  What kind of "star" does that leave?

Wouldn't exactly call Ray a bonafide STAR at this point in time. I think Rondo has taken over his role of 3rd option for the offense. It still does have to be someone very, very good because we are clearly contenders right now.

Allen, Williams, picks to GSW

Dunleavy, Morrow, Vlad Rad, Randolph to Boston

Ellis, Walker to Indy

It works, Indy gets a long term compliment to Granger, GSW gets tons of cap relief, C's get quality for Ray
Pick 2 Knicks

PG: George Hill, Ty Lawson
SG: Ray Allen, Anthony Parker, Quentin Richardson
SF: Grant Hill, Matt Barnes, D
PF: Zach Randolph, Kenyon Martin, Jon Brockman, Dante Cunningham
C:  Nene Hilario,   Own rights: Nikola Pekovic IR: Kyle Weaver

Bringing in Ellis could potentially destroy all chemistry and shatter any chances the C's had at a title. With that being said, if Golden State would agree to throw in Morrow, and if Ellis would agree to come off the bench, I would be tempted to make that deal.

Still, I have huge doubts on how effective Ellis can be on a team like the Celtics. His attitude is a concern too.
