The Pats trade a late 3rd for a 2nd next year.  It always amazes me that they're one of the few teams that pull off these types of trades.

In related news, what is Carolina doing trading up to pick another QB?  Their team was so good that they can pick two QBs among their first three picks?

What a steal of a trade for the Pats.
I think Carolina is thinking about a little.... wildcat! (the guy they picked is more WR than QB)

Shocking, another Gator for the Pats.  Hernandez is definitely a talented player, I just think the Pats probably had bigger needs.  Still, with all of their draft picks, they have the luxury of picking two TEs, I guess.

Very solid draft overall for the Pats so far.

Agreed, but it would have been nice to get another DE out of the draft in today's early rounds.

Thoughts on what the Bears are done with their limited picks Roy?

I think they got good value in each round, I just wonder if they would have been better off targeting an O-lineman a little earlier.  Of course, Jerry needs to pick a DE every draft, so I guess I shouldn't be surprised.

Yeah, he does love his defensive ends. I understand taking one though, I'd still rather they kept Alex Brown....

No doubt about it.  I liked Brown, and don't quite understand the need to dump him.

I think the team needs to target Alan Faneca now.

I'm leery of Faneca. If only because I watched Fred Miller and Orlando Pace continue to play despite being utter statues out there. Faneca played pretty well last year, but....

*sigh* yeah they should probably try and get him. Its win now after all right?

I think so.  He may only give us a year, but he's better than anybody else on our roster.  And hey, Ruben Brown worked out, right?

Yeah he did, as did Fred Miller for two years it was just his last year that was completely awful.

Grade for the draft itself: A-

Winners

The new 3 day format. I used to have to avoid my family for an entire weekend. Not so much now. If they switched to a 5 night format I'd totally give it a chance

The Pats....good draft...good trades

Todd McShay....he out dueled Kiper.

espn's admonishing of GMs penalizing Rolle for being a Rhode's Scholar

The sports science bit. Kinda cool

Bringing in cancer kids and soldiers to announce picks

Losers

LeGarret Blount....I hope the Pats get him. I wanted him earlier

Staphon Johnsons...I hope the Pats get him. But I don't think he'll be good. Why? he wasn't that good before the injury

That [dang] Neeewww Yoooorrrkkk song. It was ok the first 8 times.

Me with that South Africa soccer advertisement. I don't understand the English. It's like there's a word missing in the middle. I need to watch it on closed captioning

Bringing irrelevant people to announce picks. Slows things down

Radio City Hall...I liked Madison Square Garden Theater better.

Matt Millen...wwwwhhhhaaaattttt?  And then nobody said a word.  Very very weird and awkward. I didn't even get it.

While im not sold on Bill being the best talent evaluator.  He certainly is incredible at asset acquisition.  To enter the draft with no third round picks and then trade a third round pick for a second rounder next year?  Hes solid
CB Draft LA Lakers: Lamarcus Aldridge, Carmelo Anthony,Jrue Holiday, Wes Matthews  6.11, 7.16, 8.14, 8.15, 9.16, 11.5, 11.16

ok. The first 4 seconds of this video has that draft song I love but like a phone call jingle.

They used to play it all the time and it was awesome. Now it's all rock music ...errrr
