Posey was passed his prime when he signed the contract, so he's getting worse as his contract gets more expensive. The first year was the best (best play and least money). The last year is the worst (worse play and more money). We'd be getting the worst years of the deal. If they didn't want to give a 32 year old Posey 4 years/25M why would they want to give a 33 year old Posey 3 years/19M?

if we could sign Rasheed Wallace (a 34 year old) to 6million dollar contract, we should've definitely resigned James Posey to an equal amount, because Rasheed and Posey provision the same. Posey being more effective and consistent. I'm all for the TA/Scal for Posey trade. The C's wanna win now right. We done it with Posey before and we need to do it again. Tony Allen was injured that whole championship season, and Scal did nothing to help the cause, so why not ship them both and get 3 more years of championships.

Rasheed Wallace is a better player than Posey even at his age, he also plays a more important positions PF/C.

Do you really think Posey would allow us to win 3 titles?

Absolutely! This is the thing most don't get when talking players and value. There is a difference between a "Better Player" and a "Better Fit". James Posey although not a better player than Rasheed Wallace, is a better fit for this Celtics team. He does and gives what this team needs... "an athletic wing, that can defend 4 multiple positions, rebound and hit 3 point shots effectively and consistently". Rasheed has the capability but not he't not quick enough, nor is he consistent from outside to be effective, Scalabrine has the miraging-capability but yet he's too inconsistent shooting 3's. Posey gives us what those two don't give, are they better overall than Posey maybe, but they aren't a better fit. ;)

TP for knowing it's about "fit", though I do think 'Sheed is a good fit, even if he is a bit on the fat side.

The "fit" factor, and that NO might be desperate enough to dump the salary that they give up actual assets in picks and/or prospects, is what makes the idea worth discussing.  Knowing Pose would "fit" gives him the edge over a guy like Nocioni, who might have a similar game in many ways.

Alright, we didn't sign Posey because New Orleans offered him a bloated contract. We said no to the contract. That was the problem, ok? So, HE'S STILL ON THAT CONTRACT. THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTS.

HE'S NOT. COMING. BACK. EVER. DEAL WITH IT.

Man, this is getting crazy..."we shoulda signed powe", "let's trade for posey", "bring back toine", etc...

Question: what's he doing for the Hornets that's so special that we should bring him back and overpay him?

Yeah, I'll just wait for the team we currently have to get healthy again...we're gonna be fine without posey.

When we're healthy if Rasheed is off Eddie is on, eddie is off ray is on, all three are off, Rondo (as a much improved player) is on....

if this team was healthy we'd be **** crushing teams.

I wish there was a way to just trade nobody and get like... KG and Marquis Daniels. I love those guys and they'd be great in Celtics uniforms.  ::)
