I'd like to get in on this. AI and Brand for Allen and ...

You're joking, right?

However, if we could be the third part in the deal and get Battier for T.A and Scal (sent to Philly), I would do it in a heartbeat. But it's not going to happen. :-\

By AI, he's referring to Andre Iguodala. And, yes, I would do that trade, too. (You might have to include Scal and/or TA to make the numbers work). I would more than welcome it. Starters: Rondo, AI, Pierce, Garnett, Perk. Bench: House, TA, Baby, Brand, Rasheed. Yikes. Sign me up for this one.

Yes, I mean Iggy. I'd even throw Perk in to make this happen.

If the Rockets were actually offered this deal and turned it down, they would be idiots. With that being said, I would see no difference if Philly traded with us instead of Houston. Surly no one sees McGrady as a future piece. At least Ray Allen will dress and play, right?

The only problem is I don't know if Celtic ownership would be down with taking on all the extra salary. But we would be, without a doubt, a force on the court.

I think Philly just wants someone to take Brand's contract. I think Iggy would be worth Brand. And who knows, Brand playing with KG might become an all-star level talent again. :-\

I have no problem if the Celtics were to trade Ray Allen for an upgrade of the overall roster.

But I am against just trading Ray Allen.  For example, the AI/Brand idea.  If the Celtics wanted AI, they could of just signed him.

AI as in Andre Iguodala.

We're not talking bout practice. We're talking about Iguodala.

My fault.

Still say "No" unless there is a third team that will take Brand for an upgrade to the Celtics backcourt bench.  Brand is clearly not the player he was before the injury and on the Celtics, he is at best, the 4th big man.

Brand is a better player than Rasheed and Baby. Let's not be silly.

You've got to admit that Rondo and Iggy would look good in green for the next 8+ years. If Danny made a few expiring contract moves in a couple of years, this team could be a title contender for many years barring major injuries.

Brand is a better player than Rasheed and Baby.

He is not better the Wallace.  Wallace is a better defender.  Wallace is the outside threat the Celtics want out of their third big man.  And Wallace (when he decides to) is a better low post threat now.

Brand lost his wheels with this past injury.  He can still be useful on the right team in a limited role, but not the Celtics as constructed (and as his deal is structured)

Agreed. That would be my motive for doing the trade.

I would do a Ray , BBD + Scal  for Iguodala + Brand trade in a heart beat. We would still have just as good of a chance at winning it all this year. The outside shooting is the only thing we lose in this trade. Iguadala adds much more athleticism and a lock down defender at times and is a decent 3pt shooter. Brand has an awful contract but next to KG and Pek and Rasheed I think he would be a lot more dangerous . He would also give us insurance is case KG goes down.

BUT

I don't see the sixers doing this trade with a team in the same division.

I just don't see the Celtics adding 14 million for a 4th big man.

well that is the price for adding a franchise type player like AI. They could always try to involve Rasheed in a deal next offseason he would only have 2 yrs left a 6 mil so chances are you could move him.

I just think it would be worth it because a nucleus of Rondo, AI and Perk would not only let us contend now but for a long time to come. We would easily have the best defensive and most athletic backcourt in the NBA and the best defensive frontcourt in the NBA. I think it would almost guarantee a title this season. We would be adding to both the offense and defense.

Except he is not a franchise player.  He is a very good player.  A nice addition to have with a franchise player.

But not one worth hamstringing a franchise with a 14 million dollar going downhill bench big man.

Ray for Iguodala would be a good deal. We'd miss Ray's shooting, but AI's defense and athleticism would make up for it. It would be better to take on Dalembert's contract because it is 2 years shorter then Brand's. That contract could be flipped next year if need be.

Here's a good deal, IMHO

Tony Allen
Ray Allen

for

Andre Iguodala
Samuel Dalembert
Rodney Carney (deal can be done without him)
