Can't say I completely disagree but don't think Danny will do it unless Paul and KG looked to be out for quite a while and Danny felt he needed to trade Ray for someone of quality to keep the team afloat waiting for KG and Paul to return before the playoffs.

Also, I would demand quality back, not just bodies. Ray, Scal and parts to:

Detroit for Prince and Rip
Dallas for Terry and Howard
Sacramento for Martin and bad money
Milwaukee for Redd, Ridnour and Warrick

Something along these lines, otherwise, forget it. Don't trade Ray unless you get a clear replacement plus an upgrade elsewhere.

What he said.

It's going to be really interesting to see what the Rockets end up getting for T-Mac.  I keep hearing over and over about how so many teams are in drastic financial position.  Right now apparently the ROckets aren't getting good offers.  I have a feeling that is going to change as the deadline comes closer.

I honestly don't care as long as he stays FAR away from Boston.

Pretty hard to argue with.

Detroit for Prince and Rip

I don't like this one. Two ageing players, Prince with serious injury problems, Hamilton with a very long contract.

Sacramento for Martin and bad money

Depends on the bad money, but sure. I doubt the Kings do it though.

Quote
Milwaukee for Redd, Ridnour and Warrick

This one is horrible, Redd hasn't played decent basketball in more than a year. Until he proves he can still play at a high level after the suergery, I wouldn't touch his contract. Right now, he's dragging the Bucks down with his presence on the court.

Quote
Dallas for Terry and Howard

JET looks finito and Howard it's another one of those cases where it's hard to know if he can produce this season or not.

I don't want Ray to go anywhere. He's my favorite Celtic. And no matter who you bring in to replace him, nobody can replace the clutch factor that he brings. If you're down 3 in the NBA finals, who would you rather have than Ray Allen? He's one of the clutchest players of all-time.

I have the perfect trade... ;D ;D ;D

Weren't you also the guy who was pushing for the C's to sign AI?

At least you're consistent in wanting chemistry disrupters and headcases.

I'm not sure what the limit would be, really.   I don't really know how desperate some of these teams are.   I've heard for a while that the Hornets are in horrible position financially, for example.  They wouldn't get rid of Chris Paul, but at some point do they have to dump David West?

Ray for David West and Posey?  David West and Stojakovic?  David West and Okafor?  How much does your opinion change if they are willing to buy out Ray?

I'm not a fan of West and we'd need an additional trade. Just doesn't work in positional terms.

What if the Kings want to trade Kevin Martin and Nocioni for Ray?

Would they?

Try telling me the Wizards wouldn't get rid of Gilbert Arenas for Ray...  Heck... trying telling me the Wizards wouldn't get rid of Arenas AND Jamison for Ray, Scal and Tony.

No thanks.

The Warriors are 9-22... When do they start considering owing Biedrins 45 million, Ellis 55 million and Maggette 40 million over the next 4-5 years a bad idea.   Think we might be able to grab two for Ray?

Biedrins and Maggette, probably. But I'd refuse.

Quote
Charlotte?  Are they happy being on the hook paying Diaw and Gerald Wallace 67 million?

Happy enough to not even consider to trade Wallace for financial purposes.

I'm just sayin... right now seems to be the perfect storm of struggling teams, a struggling economy and a looming free agent class... and although I love Ray as much as the next guy, I'm pretty confident we'll regret not making a move in a year unless we win a title.  And I think it's possible we might actually improve our squad in the near term AND long term by making a trade depending on who we get and whether or not the team buys Ray out.

But what makes you think the Cs ownership is willing to increase the payroll even more, short and long term?

Detroit RIP got a ridiculous extension. Possible future obstacle

Dallas-Mark Cuban is Rich. They give up too much

Milwaukee-Better off keeping Ray expiring contract.

Sacramento- Yes Yes Yes

Would love to see a shoot out between Kevin Durant and Kevin Martin. 2 of the best shooters in the NBA

Chicago?  How bout Hinrich and Deng for Ray?  Maybe they wanna free themselves from owing them 87 million combined.

Charlotte?  Are they happy being on the hook paying Diaw and Gerald Wallace 67 million?

I am all for going to get a beast like Gerald Wallace to help grab some boards out there for us. We have been getting beat a lot on the glass this year, why not grab a guy who'd give us a nice offensive game along with his beastial rebounding? He's getting like 12 boards per game right now with Charlotte headed nowhere but a late lottery pick.

I'm not against trading Ray if the right deal comes along but in reality, what can the C's pull off that would be the right deal?

The biggest advantage to the team that receives Ray is a lot of $ coming off the books at the end of the year.  The issue is that the C's need to get some real quality players back to justify the move.  Is there any team out there that would seriously move a player (or players) of the quality the C's need for just expiring money?  I doubt it.

This isn't quite the same as moving the Scal/TA/House/Giddens expirings.  Those contracts equate to a player of a lesser caliber than Ray, someone like a Nocioni or Hinrich level of player.  Ray's contract needs to bring in someone of major significance that can start and make a major difference in the team or someone who's very solid with another solid bench addition or two.  I just don't see the C's being able to pull that off despite the number of suggestions made in this thread.

Ridiculous. If Ray Allen is a "super role player" right now because he didn't put up 30 points last night, what is KG? You know, since he never plays in the post anymore and only takes jumpshots, he must be a jump-shooter and a roleplayer too. We should trade him. :)
