It's going to be really interesting to see what the Rockets end up getting for T-Mac.  I keep hearing over and over about how so many teams are in drastic financial position.  Right now apparently the ROckets aren't getting good offers.  I have a feeling that is going to change as the deadline comes closer.

I honestly don't care as long as he stays FAR away from Boston.
I agree about T-Mac not coming here but LarBrd makes a great, great point here. Seeing what Houston gets for T-Mac will set the table for a Ray Allen trade.

1.) They make similar money so teams making offers for McGrady are probably going to be willing to listen to a Ray offer. And:

2.) Danny can gauge the market on what Ray is worth based upon what people are offering for McGrady. Obviously Ray is right now the better known commodity so Ray's price should be higher.

I wouldn't trade Ray right now with the way Eddie House is struggling from 3 (in non-blowout games). That would leave Pierce as our only other option from three point land.

Ray will be fine once Paul returns.  He needs Paul, more than Paul needs him, to thrive in our half court offense.

I wouldn't trade Ray Allen Anywhere..especially for T-Mac or Any of the players listed.

IMO, none of the players listed in this thread could replace Ray Allen and still allow Boston to be Title Contenders this year, especially T-Mac or Redd. Both of them are talented, but their health is in question.

And none of the players listed are clutch.

And what about Chemistry? Can any of the players listed here in the thread come in and fit in and really help Boston win a title This Year? No. Can an of the players listed help Boston Contend for a playoff spot? Sure.

I wouldn't think about blowing the team up this year because of a three game losing streak.

I don't want Ray to go anywhere. He's my favorite Celtic. And no matter who you bring in to replace him, nobody can replace the clutch factor that he brings. If you're down 3 in the NBA finals, who would you rather have than Ray Allen? He's one of the clutchest players of all-time.

I'd rather not get down 3 in the NBA finals.  I'd rather win by 10 by playing quick-footed defense.

I'd trade Ray if it involved any of the following 3:  Chris Paul, Kevin Martin, Gerald Wallace.

All three would help this team in the short term and long term.  Obviously in some cases you'd have to give up more than Ray, but it should be considered.

In the end, I don't think we should trade Ray unless one of those 3 becomes available.  These are just the dog days of the season, and the team will start playing better once we get closer to the playoffs.

Let's face it Danny is always looking for a deal.  But the deal has to make us BETTER. If the right deal comes along he will make it.

However, One thing not one poster took into account was our cap number.  Yes, we do have 30M in expiring contracts, but due to Rondo's contract and some raises our Cap for next year is 63.3M for SIX players.  How much do you think management is willing to pay in Cap and Taxes. If we take back close to 30M that puts us at over 90M next years which equates to 110-115 for salaries and taxes.  That's not going to happen. Does anyone want to the the Knicks of Boston!!!!

Deals have to make not only basketball sense for us but dollar sense as well.  Too many people use the fantasy league mentality, and even if you play with a cap, you pick a completely new team next year, you aren't stuck with the same team from year to year.  Our budget is around 81M, when you dream up trades stay within the figure, which means not just this year, but next year and the year after.  Also, you have to look at resigning your own players. For instance, in 2 year Perk's deal is up and he's play cheap right now.  We are going to have to up his pay close to 10M per season to keep him.  Will your trade aloow for that signing?  REMEMBER, DANNY IS NOT JUST LOOKING AT THIS YEAR, LIKE US FANS, HE'S LOOKING AT OUR FINANCIAL HEALTH FOR THE NEXT 3-5 YEARS.

I would like to add two other players to the list and I think there is a real possibility their teams may be looking to shed salary.  the players are Rudy Gay and Danny Granger.

Also, should Ainge ever trade Ray it will be with the condition the team releases him ASAP, so he can resign with the Celtics.

You're new here so you probably haven't read through many, many, many of the trade proposals that have been proposed at Celticsblog but just about every single poster who posts a trade takes into consideration everything you just took the time to tell us about.

CB is a very intelligent community that fully understands the salary cap and it's effects and ramifications in trades as well as takes into consideration the long term financial health of the team.

that's pure conjecture on your part and, if the trade really helps the team, shouldn't be necessary to make the deal palatable for the C's.

You're joking, right?

However, if we could be the third part in the deal and get Battier for T.A and Scal (sent to Philly), I would do it in a heartbeat. But it's not going to happen. :-\

By AI, he's referring to Andre Iguodala. And, yes, I would do that trade, too. (You might have to include Scal and/or TA to make the numbers work). I would more than welcome it. Starters: Rondo, AI, Pierce, Garnett, Perk. Bench: House, TA, Baby, Brand, Rasheed. Yikes. Sign me up for this one.

Yes, I mean Iggy. I'd even throw Perk in to make this happen.
