I'm great.  My wife is at week 37 of pregnancy, birth is right around the corner (our first), and the checkup with the OB today went great.  I love watching my wife's belly move as the baby moves inside her, or feeling a move with my hand -- incredible experience and we feel very blessed by it.

Awesome news ... congratulations! (TP) Being a dad is the toughest and most rewarding thing you'll ever experience ... make the most of every moment, and love them without limit.

The amazement has only just begun. If she is going natural and you are going to be there through it all, the miracle that is the birth of your children is going to be the most amazing thing ever. You will have a WHOLE new respect for women after seeing what they have to go through and how fast they have to bounce back.

It will make you think athletes should suck it up more and get out there and play when they say they tweaked something. You're thinking to yourself, " if my wife can push out a 9lb baby out of her uterus and then go home the next day and do what she has to to care for herself and my child, then [dang] sure Rondo can get out there with a freaking tweaked hammy". LOL. I know he can't or shouldn't but still, the thought will enter your mind a time or three after watching childbirth live.

I'll say a prayer that the baby is born healthy, I might add ... but maybe not quite as "healthy" as mine were: I had three, two girls and a boy, from 10 lbs 8 oz to 11 lbs 3 oz! (All natural childbirth ;))

Yeah, my wife is a small woman with a small frame. She was 105-110 lbs when she got pregnant with my three boys. She ballooned up to 150lbs on all three and gave birth to all three over 9 lb 6 oz. Something that big should just never come out of a small woman.

Ouch, it hurt just remembering it.

LOL! I agree ... I think if men were responsible for the birthing, there would be no over-population problems in the world. My son was the biggest, and his head was so conical from being in the canal so long ... people say newborns are so "beautiful", and they are, in a "wonder of birth" sort of way, but while my son is handsome now, when he first came out, with that cone-head and pressed face, all covered in liquids of various colors, (we won't get too graphic here), I was in a kind of "What IS it? It's too big! Put it back ... it's not done cooking!" state of shock. I had helped birth babies before, but nothing close to his size ... they gave my ex-wife a tee-shirt that said: "The Moose Is Mine!" ... my son still has that shirt, lol, (and now he's a dad and in the Army). He still holds the family record that he took from me by one ounce, (I was 11 lb 2 oz, but thin my whole life) ;)

Yeh, well, I once played on with a bruised rib. All I could do was stand still and hobble a bit. Due to foul trouble there were just the 5 of us left. I'll regret that for the rest of my life, since I feel all sorts of things in my chest right now when I move. It's REALLY weird. As if some part of my muscle is hooked behind a rib or something. Doesn't hurt much normally, but it's weird as hell.

That said, yes, I can imagine the gift of life being quite possibly the most awe-inspiring event one can ever experience, and am very, very much looking forward to it.

But first, baby-making needs to commence. lol :]

...and life and death goes on at the Celtics Blog.  This is a good thread, Kiorrik, and I hope it keeps going.  Encouragement for those who need it, sympathy for those who need it, and  congratulations and celebrations for people in general for anything noteworthy.  AND a place to give these things if you feel like giving...I know that when I was going through a rough patch, comments from the Blog meant a lot to me.

Sometimes, in past threads, there seems to be some kind of "one-upmanship" going on, and I hope that doesn't happen in this thread.   :-*

Tomorrow is a mystery.
Today is a gift...

And let's not even get into the smell. ;D
