Sinners.

I don't know what scale to judge this one on.

Is it "97% Rotten Tomatoes" good?  Probably not, if for genre alone.  It's a little long, and let's be honest, the plot is thin (although there's obviously some symbolism at play).

But, it's well-acted, slickly directed, has some good music and dance, and has that period throwback appeal.  And, as far as the genre, it's most intelligent than most.  It's a very good watch, even if it could be cut down by 20 minutes.

It was all over the place.  I liked the parts I liked and saw where they were going with it.  I liked the music, the acting and the back story, but main action just seemed completely disconnected.  Maybe that was the point?

Yeah, I read a review that said that it's like two different movies that didn't completely merge.  The review said that's a current trend in horror movies, although I don't have enough of a frame of reference.

I think I envisioned it as a Mississippi Delta gangster movie, with the antagonists likely to be the Klan.  And then, instead of the Klan, they symbolically turned the antagonists into monsters / vampires.  But, whether symbolic or realistic, the problem was probably resolved too tidily.

That was one of the cooler renditions of Rocky Road to Dublin I've seen.
Best way I can describe Sinners was that it is boring.  It started off slow and never really picked up.  It is well acted, directed,, the music is awesome, and has a unique script, it just sort of moves along slowly.  Also, while Jordan is great there was no reason he had to play both brothers and the scenes together were a bit disjointed and weird. Worth watching, but I don't really get the hype.

I watched Heads of State, Jackpot, and Deep Cover on 3 straight nights (all Amazon movies).  Jackpot is the one I would recommend the most.  Cena and Awkafina are great together and it is very funny. Also has the most unique concept.

I just watched Superman.  I liked all of it except the portrayal of Superman himself. He struck me as just another powerful superhero, rather than somebody almost uniquely invulnerable (in the absence of kryptonite).

just watched Happy Gilmore 2.  it was better than expected but I expected it to be pretty bad.  not the worst way to kill a couple of hours.  liked a lot of the nods to the original movie.

I agree. Saw it on the plane and had some moments that had me laughing. Kind of silly at times but good cameos, bit of nostalgia, and overall entertaining. Not the same as the classic but they made it work.

Saw The Hitmans Bodyguard with Ryan Reynolds?s and Samuel Jackson and was very entertained. I didn?t know this movie was made and it?s basically Reynolds?s and Jackson doing their usual roles but the action was good and usual funny scenes. Good movie to be entertained.

I just saw Nobody, which is not new.   But it was a decent movie and written by the guy who does John Wick.  Slow start but once it picked up it was very good.  Free on prime.

Saw the new Naked Gun movie starring Liam Neeson. Having never seen the original Naked Gun movies, I went in with little to no expectations. Laughed the entire 85 minutes. Probably the hardest I have laughed at a movie since This Is The End 12 years ago.

Interesting...any of you guys seen Thunderbolts? Any good? I've lost touch with Marvel these days, I have no clue where the overall story is after they got rid of Kang.
Any odd typos are because I suck at typing on an iPhone :D

Superman is good. Really feels like stepping into an onscreen comic book, maybe more so thst any other CBM ever.

Great characters- strong personalities and well-defined motives. Tone isn't super-serious and yet it has lots of heart because the characters make you care. Very fast-paced, I actually liked it better on a second watch. Kineric action scenes. There are a few cringey Marvel lines in here. But most of it feels funny/weird in an organic way. There's a certain James Gunn fantastical whimsy that just works.

Thunderbolts was very solid IMO. A bit dark but in a good way. Not as much "Marvel Humor" as usual. Action scenes are more focused and pusposeful than some of the work we've seen from Marvel lately.

That?s awesome.  Having never seen the original is probably the way to go then.  And kudos to the makers for achieving the end to end absurdity that made the originals a classic.  Even with those we had the expectations of the Airplane movies and for any hardcore fans the Police Squad TV series.  Coming in blind would be great.  I just don?t know that I can separate the two, but I?d like to try!  See if I have any time / energy this week.
