Probably not, if for genre alone. It's a little long, and let's be honest, the plot is thin (although there's obviously some symbolism at play). But, it's well-acted, slickly directed, has some good music and dance, and has that period throwback appeal. And, as far as the genre, it's most intelligent than most. It's a very good watch, even if it could be cut down by 20 minutes. It was all over the place. I liked the parts I liked and saw where they were going with it. I liked the music, the acting and the back story, but main action just seemed completely disconnected. Maybe that was the point? Yeah, I read a review that said that it's like two different movies that didn't completely merge. The review said that's a current trend in horror movies, although I don't have enough of a frame of reference. I think I envisioned it as a Mississippi Delta gangster movie, with the antagonists likely to be the Klan. And then, instead of the Klan, they symbolically turned the antagonists into monsters / vampires. But, whether symbolic or realistic, the problem was probably resolved too tidily. That was one of the cooler renditions of Rocky Road to Dublin I've seen.
