The Gorge on Apple TV. This movie was wild, in a good way. Great combination of romance, sci-fi, action, and horror. This was right up my alley. Best to go in blind, and learn what is going on with the characters.

We watched this last weekend, I thought it was really good.  Miles Teller is a really good actor!

Very Meh.  Even the 3D was Meh.  I did enjoy the not so surprise surprise end I guess.

I watched To Live and Die in LA for the first time since it was in the theaters in the 80's.  Cheesy, but good era piece.  Loved the Wang Chung soundtrack.  There was one scene where I was able to successfully predict the about to retire cop saying "I'm getting to old for this bleep."  I went down a little rabbit hole fo research and found that this usage of the cliche cop line actually preceded Lethal Weapon by a couple of years.  Definitely an influential movie.

"Heretic." I really like it. The whole movie was pretty much just dialogue between 3 characters, so if thats not your thing, dont see it. I found it extremely engaging, and I think it's the first time I ever liked Hugh Grant in a movie.

Seconded

All kidding aside I watched it last night. Thought it was phenomenal. If I'm going to watch a "horror" movie, psychological horror is always my preference. I thought it was brilliantly shot, great dialogue and well directed. Highly recommend it to people

I liked Heretic, too.  On the other hand, I didn't really see anything special about Long Legs.  It seemed pretty generic, and I didn't see anything noteworthy about the villain / Nicolas Cage's performance.

I also watched The Gorge on Apple TV.  If you're not in a thinking mood, it's fine.  It's a waste of acting talent, but if you think of it like a mindless zombie-ish movie it won't let you down.

And, Heart of Champions (2021).  It follows a paint-by-numbers "coach turns boys into men" story, with an ending that is just a little too contrived.

I came here to post about The Gorge. The monsters were different from what I was expecting, and a bit disappointing at first, but once I heard the whole backstory, it made sense and turned out to be an interesting bit of ?fictional explanation of a historical mystery.?

I recently watched A Complete Unknown at a local theater.  I enjoyed seeing how Dylan started in NYC.  The movie only chronicles his life from 1960-65.  For those of you who don't know, Dylan was born in Hibbing, Minnesota the same home town as our Celtic friend Kevin McHale.  The three stars of the show are Timothee Chalamet who played Dylan, Edward Norton who played Pete Seeger, and Monica Barbaro who played Joan Baez. In my opinion, all three did a fantastic job.  Chalamet spent five years preparing for his part and had to learn how to play the guitar before they started filming.  I was also really impressed with Barbaro's voice.

"Companion" is the only good movie i've seen this year. Really wild ride. Don't read anything about it going in. The less you know, the better.

The local theater here has $6.50 Tuesdays during the winter.  I've been going with my adult nephew every week or two to see a movie, just for something to do.  Even if it's all bad movies.

A few weeks ago we saw The Wolf Man.  Not good! It had some decent gore effects.  It had one of the most glaring oversights I'd ever seen in a movie.

It is what it is.  I didn't hate it.  My nephew and I have had some fun rehashing the movie since.  Go see it and see if you come up with the same conclusion as me.
