dont trade scal. He never has complained about his role and always gives his all. He might be willing to resign next year for alot less.  Please please give me a break with minimizing what he does for this team. Scal= Ubuntu?

I've watched Nocioni twice this year and both times he appeared slower than I remember, especially laterally. He also has numbers that are slipping everywhere but in his scoring. His FG%, his 3PT FG%, his FT%, and his rebounding number are all off this year.

I would wait and make sure he is 100% healthy and that there isn't a serious drop off in his physical condition and game occurring. Patience in this deal will be key before making a decision to bring in a 29 year old guy with heavy numbers on his contract for the next three years.

Well, I think the issue with Scal is that he does not give you much different from Nocioni.  So having both of them does not give you the flexibility that keeping Davis gives you.

However, if they want Davis, and it can get the C's a pick or something thrown in, then I would have no problem with it.

I live about 30 minutes from Sacramento.  I go to a ton of Kings games and have watched Nocioni with great interest the last 2 years.  Ever since I heard Danny was trying to land him. Adding a player like him to that second unit would be an upgrade and then some. If that deal is on the table, Ainge does it in a heartbeat.  Nocioni is a hard nosed player on the Kings.  One of the few they have. His game goes up a notch and then some if he's playing with leaders like the Celtics have.  I couldn't imagine it.  He'd be huge.  He's what Tony Allen and J.R. would dream of being.

JarJar Binks, Sheed, and Noc ?  On the 2nd unit ?

Wow.  I'd love to see it.  Thats a first unit Eastern Conference team if I saw one.

At first glance I would say no to the deal. Would Nocioni be ahead of either Daniels or Davis in the rotation? I don't think so. Daniels provides more ball handling ability and athleticism that we need and Big Baby is a better fit at pf then Nocioni next to Wallace. So Nocioni becomes an expensive 10th man. He's also mainly a 3-point shooter who's not that athletic. We have plenty of that.

Where's the connection? Baby = 4, Nocioni = 3, Daniels = 2. End of story.

Mike Gorman just told Tanguay the deal isn't happening.

Reason?

Well, it may not be happening NOW but I don't think that rules it out for later in the year. If Walker and Giddens and Tony turn out to be total wastes of time this year and are good for nothing except as an expiring deal, maybe Danny has a change of mind come January or February.

Apparently, it's not going to happen :

Quote
An ESPN report indicated that the Celtics may be part of a three-team trade that would result in him becoming a Celtic.

However, two league sources contacted Tuesday said Boston is unlikely to get involved in such a deal.

The deal, according to ESPN, would sent Philadelphia's Samuel Dalembert to Sacramento, with Brian Scalabrine, Tony Allen and Sacramento's Kenny Thomas all going to Philadelphia while the Celtics would land Nocioni.

If it were to happen, the deal would be news to Nocioni's agent, George Bass.

"I haven't heard about a deal being done involving Andres," Bass said in a phone interview this morning.

It's not unusual for an agent to be one of the last to know that a player has been trade. While the addition of Nocioni would certainly bolster and already strong Celtics bench, it comes at a hefty price tag.

The 6-foot-7 forward has three years and more than $20 million remaining on his contract after this season. When you factor in the recent extension given to Rajon Rondo coupled with the salaries of the Big Three, the C's would have little salary cap flexibility in the coming years at a time when they'll need it due to the advanced age of their core players.

yeah MG wouldn't be that definitive without giving a reason.

Just added to Stein's article:

UPDATE: Important clarification on Nocioni's contract. The final year, at $7.5 million, is a team option. So if the Celts decide to go ahead with a trade for Nocioni, they are absorbing only two extra guaranteed years after this season at $13.5 million as opposed to $21 million over three years. Which makes Nocioni's contract somewhat less daunting. Another smaller but nonetheless notable variable here: Dalembert has a 15-percent trade kicker in his contract.

Don't think it makes a hill of beans of a difference as Boston is in no hurry to do this deal in November.
