What do you think he does during practice?

Thinks about what he's going to do at night with his posse?

How can you blame anything on this guy that doesn't have to do with injuries (besides his horrible shot)?
I'm not attacking anybody, I want people to get their facts straight.

His turnover rate is his biggest issue and has been pre and post injury.   That's the sign of an undisciplined player.  If you want to blame his lack of a basketball IQ on an injury. Feel free.

I don't appreciate people posting comments about Celtic players threatening people with guns, with absolutely no basis.  Just trying to have a friendly debate here.

At the very minimum, bad judgment.

Please tell me how he's a waste of talent

This is going to make me sick to my stomach.

He's a strong kid with good speed and a decent mid range jump shot.   His explosive leaping ability helps on the boards and defensively he has an interesting tool set.  Strong enough to play physical.  Athletic enough to use is quickness.

Unfortunately, he is a moron on the court.  He has poor court awareness, is crappy with the ball, turns the ball over a ton, and let's his offensive struggles impact his defensive game.  All those things are correctable, but he doesn't have the aptitude to do so.
What do you think he does during practice?
Tony Allen pre-injury = decent player
Tony Allen immediately after his injuries = horrible player

You mean besides his:

- bad ball handling
- poor decision making
- penchant for dribbling into a crowd while looking at the floor
- excessive amounts of times he jumps into the air on a simple head fake
- inability to properly space the floor during fast breaks
- love of playing in the passing lanes looking for a steal
- bad defensive rotations
- inability to go to his left or lay it in with his left hand
- inconsistency
- much more than average amount of times he fouls a player shooting a three pointer
- lack of shooting range
- off the court problems that reflect poorly on the team
- overall intelligence
- inconsistent lack of focus
- turnovers in general
- lower than average passing ability

And that's on the court.

Here's a little pre-Celtics summary off the court:

http://sports-law.blogspot.com/2005/10/tony-allen-and-whataburger-incident.html

An equally consistent pattern of poor judgment off the floor, that's been exacerbated while wearing the Celtics uniform.

There's an awful lot of rug-sweeping going on here to characterize Tony's problems as all injury-related. Nothing could be further from the truth.

Respect is earned, not demanded.
Coined the CelticsBlog term, "Euromistake."

for those demanding tony get respect...how many of you want to see him get important minutes this season at either the SG or SF spots??...i mean 10 plus minutes a game? anyone? didn't think so. the ONLY reason tony will start the season here is b/c no other team wants him and boston can use his expiring come Feb. i am all for BURYING him on the bench..i would rather giddens get time than tony step on the floor. he is worth more sitting in a suit than sitting in his uniform

if tony is here it is b/c he has to be here and danny is stuck with him.

TP nick, couldn't have said it better myself.

Tony Allen: riding the hype of a streak of 10 games in '06 like clay rides his no hitter.

  • Let them hate, as long as they fear
How could Tony succeed and be a detriemnt to the team?
And someday in the midst of time,
When they ask you if you knew me
Remember that you were a friend of mine

A player can easily post "numbers" and be a net negative to his team.

Zach Randolph anyone?

Tony, shouldn't you be fouling a three-point shooter in the closing minutes of a big game somewhere?

Seriously, lowest IQ player I've seen in some time. Horrible decisions, on AND off the court..

Has anybody else noticed that the original poster has not responded to 4 pages of criticism of Tony?  I think maybe it really was Tony afterall.

It looks like no buyers for Tony. Things might change later, but for the time being LETS GO TONY! The Great Charles Barkley said it best "You a knucklehead." So talent, yet so frustrating. But with all his downfalls, Tony is still a productive player. Not smart enough to be the 6th as he was projected last season, but a HOF 11th man. ;D
