You are correct, my bad lol. But the point still remins that he got the ball with the shot clock under 5 seconds and had nothing else to do. He shouldnt of been in the game in that situation, which says it all about him as a fit for this team. If he cant hit open shots then there is no place for him as a backup wing here.

tony is has one of the lowest basketball IQs in the NBA. he is a me first guy. if you dont believe...turn on the last 3 minutes of game 6 vs the bulls. he shot the celtics out of the game with 3 long and ill timed jumpers. i would rather see giddens or hudson get his minutes

While i just criticized him as a fit for this team, you can't knock TA for taking those shots. He got the ball with the shot clock running down each time, what else could he have done? House should of been in at the time because with Ray fouled out there was no spacing.

Also it was game 5, not 6 because it was in Boston.

it was game 6 in chicago. it was the triple overtime loss where boston blew a 9 point lead with under 3 to play. and tony took quick shots

Tony took 2 shots in the 4th quarter, a layup and a 7 footer (which was at the end of the shot clock).

The only way I give Tony Allen even a remote amount of respect is if he puts a gun in my face and then I'd be respecting the gun.

The guy is an absolute waste of god given talent.

TA gets way more grief than he should.  Reminds me of Doc Rivers a few seasons ago, Danny Ainge a few seasons ago, Brian Scalabrine a couple of seasons ago.  There needs to be at least one guy that takes the heat universally far in excess of what he deserves.  TA is a deficient basketball player -- that's why he makes role player money and plays few minutes.  He is impulsive on the court, he turns the ball over too often and his head is often not where it should be.  However, he offers an occasional great slash to the hoop, an occasional heads-up pass, an occasional aggressive rebound, an occasional steal by anticipating the passing lane, and an occasional fine defensive stand.  He is also one of the more animated and upbeat players on the bench -- supporting and cheering his teammates.

TA is not consistent and is only occasionally a positive contributor, but he is hardly the horrific mess that he is made out to be in this thread.  He does earn more than he should (for 1 more year), and while I don't hold out great hope that he'll have any type of a resurgence in his career, I do suggest that there is a chance that he'll be recovered enough from injuries this year to gain back some of his lost confidence and hops.  I don't really care if he's with the C's or not, but if he is, he'll do occasional minimal harm and occasional minimal good -- he's just a guy on the team, no need for the bashing he gets.

[Edited.]

Please tell me how he's a waste of talent.  I thought you guys were complaining because God didn't give him ENOUGH talent?
The guy has been plagued with injuries, a known risk for basketball players.  How is he wasting his talent?
Does it make you feel good to continually throw insults at a guy who plays for your own team?

Nice response.

I don't think he's wasting talent. I just don't think he has a lot, and he has absolutely no basketball sense whatsoever.

And his off-the-court persona is worse than above. He seems to routinely make worse judgments off the court than on, and his on-court judgment is terrible.

Ergo, I really don't want him wearing a Celtics uniform any longer. The money spent on him is wasted. Time to cut our losses.

Yeah, what he said, especially the bolded part.

Nice to see you around again, Coach.

I'm jumping on the Coach and Grouch Express here and agreeing with every syllable that was just written by those two very intelligent men. TP's to them.

This is going to make me sick to my stomach.

He's a strong kid with good speed and a decent mid range jump shot.   His explosive leaping ability helps on the boards and defensively he has an interesting tool set.  Strong enough to play physical.  Athletic enough to use is quickness.

Unfortunately, he is a moron on the court.  He has poor court awareness, is crappy with the ball, turns the ball over a ton, and let's his offensive struggles impact his defensive game.  All those things are correctable, but he doesn't have the aptitude to do so.

What do you think he does during practice?
Tony Allen pre-injury = decent player
Tony Allen immediately after his injuries = horrible player
How can you blame anything on this guy that doesn't have to do with injuries (besides his horrible shot)?
I'm not attacking anybody, I want people to get their facts straight.  I don't appreciate people posting comments about Celtic players threatening people with guns, with absolutely no basis.  Just trying to have a friendly debate here.

Tony Allen is only effective when given LOTS of court time---problem is, when he gets lots of court time--he gets injured---so he is basically worthless....or maybe less than worthless, when you consider the amount of time the coaches waste waiting for him to be effective.

Make that 'decent player' on a bad team.

He has yet to be a decent player on a contender.
