By the way, he worked out for the Fakers last week before they signed Odom. The Laker fans were none too impressed - can they really be so superficial. You would think he was auditioning for the Dance team!

i didn't know much about williams. from reading everyone's posts it seems like at least he hustles, which is probably the most important thing for someone in his position (bench big).

but i really hope leon doesn't end up on the cavs. because if we meet them in the playoffs, i'd expect leon to absolutely kill this guy.

Agreed.  That's what I said on the blog thread.

Leon Powe had microfracture surgery and an ACL tear on the same knee, AT THE SAME TIME!!  He will be extremely fortunate to ever play for any NBA team again, let alone for a contender during the playoffs.  This injury is unprecedented in its severity and scope.  Several players have recovered from the microfracture procedure.  And dozens apon dozens have come back from the ACL tear.  But never has these 2 things happened to a player simultaneously.  And to top it off, this is second time he's torn the ACL in that leg (along with the other one in college)!!  The guy is done.  Finito.  Ended.

3 ACL tears and a microfracture before age 25??  No chance.

Sheleden Williams is Leon Powe's replacement. So we could all say bye bye to Leon, he's headed to Cleveland. Like every big man that does come to the Celtics (except Mikki Moore), I think Sheldne's career will finally blossom over here with guidance from K.G., Rasheed, Perkins, and Clifford Ray.

And POB. LOL. Maybe POB doesn't count because he was such a bust..

actually POB would have played and worked out much better than Mikki Moore/ I still don;t know why we traded him and the brought in Mikki. Now Mikki is a true Bust/Scammer.. LOL!!!

Not sure how it effects the BBD situation yet. Baby doesn't even have an offer that I know of. It would be different if Baby had an offer and it was obvious he was walking. But this is not the case..

I think we'll match up to around 3.5-4. But that isn't even materializing. Baby should discuss a 3-year from us in the 3-3.5 per range..

We will re-sign Baby, or get decent value in a sign and trade.

Shelden was a great value signing by Danny. Good job.

What?
But we signed a petition...
He has to come back.
Philly:

David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

It's pretty typical that restricted FAs get limited offers. Most teams don't want to tie up their cap space to only get matched. Usually its the big money FAs who get offers, the medium level guys take a long time.

Ryan Hollins just got an offer sheet from Minnesota. I wouldn't be surprised if BBD eventually gets something going.

Three years 9 million is fair value for BBD, he probably wants a lot more than that though.

It's a decent signing; Williams will be serviceable for us, and not the "joke fourth big" that Danny's been so fond of in the past. I like him at the 4.

Coined the CelticsBlog term, "Euromistake."

Danny hasn't signed any joke fourth bigs, only joke sixth bigs.
We had Perk, KG, Powe, Davis, and Scal (and PJ Brown for a few months) before Mikki and POB.

Seeing Candace Parker at the Garden a couple times a years is totally worth the veteran's minimum.
