isn't anybody worried that this guy is hitting in the .250s?

Not at all, he plays in a AWFUL hitting park, with no protection in the lineup. He sees barely any good pitches to hit and dominates on the road, id bet he would hit .280 or so playing on the Red Sox.

.280? yikes. I hope his ceiling is higher than that. plus, opponents are hitting better than him in his own park....

I don't know. I'm not excited about either Gonzalez or Victor M.

I think I'd prefer Victor because he can get hot and can play some C, but neither of these guys clearly ignites the middle of the lineup and both would only be part time players.

if you're gonna make a move, the move to make is Halladay based on what is out there.

For the moment, "all is quiet" in #RedSox offices. But I personally don't rule anything out.

Average doesnt really matter that much with big power hitters, OBP and OPS matter much more and Gonzalez has great both of those. Very few top power hitters have high averages so Gonzalez can hit .260 here for all i care as long as he gets on base and hits HR's. He will hit for a higher average here however, his swing is made for Fenway.

I tried posting this earlier, but I'm technology challenged...

Fafnir said that trading all your prospects for as veteran means trouble three years later

Like:

#5 pick in draft and delonte    for Ray?
or
2 #1s, big Al, Gomes Green and Teldair of KG?

Baseball is completely different than basketball.

In baseball you need a roster of 25 players to compete, a handful of elite players cannot win if they don't have a reasonable supporting cast around them. In basketball you top 3 players determine a lot more about the quality of your team.

I actually don't agree. .250s is scary for a guy that you are going to have to give up a ton of prospects to get.

he'd have to hit .280s at a bare minimum to do what we need to the middle of this lineup.
