Utah will be a tough battle and then I get Seattle or Phoenix if I win, what was the reward for finishing first in the West again?

I was thinking about this one

It will be as Roy says
Impressive matchups

all of them

good luck all

Everyone in the west should have thought about that when they were voting and to make things easier on themselves voted some of the teams that had a case for the playoffs but didnt make it into the 7th and 8th spots to make it easier for the 1st round at least. A team like mine for example could have been voted in if people where willing to over looke thabeet at the center and the fact that I got a few rookie backups.....

if hedo have a great year
we all know roy will
your team will have a pretty good chance during second thoughts round mid season
I think we are getting better at this thing
and soon results are going to be more "callit" realistic, knowledge full or educated
when season starts and we all decide really thabeet
like another namesm  like lopes and our last center do
I still like your team as remembers me pierces celtics a while ago..

good luck

Hey guys, I've been away all weekend camping in NH.  Can someone give me a link to the voting results???

The results aren't official yet.  Preliminarily, the West looks like:

1   Buffalo   2
2   Portland   2.24
3   Seattle   4.81
4   Dallas   5.24
5   Phoenix   5.24
6   Houston   5.48
7   Golden St   5.71
8   Utah   7.57
9   Memphis   9.28
10   San Antonio   10.52
11   Minnesota   11.29
12   Sacramento   11.48
13   Denver   11.86
14   New Orleans   12.71
15   Las Vegas   14.57

And in the East:

1 Magic 48
2 Bulls 72
3 Rapts 100
4 Sixers 140
5 Celts 183
6 Nets 193
7 Pistons 221
8 Boxers 251
9 Cavs 256
10 Knicks 284
11 Bucks 318
12 Pacers 329
13 Hawks 342
14 Heat 419
15 Bobcats 423

Those results aren't official, and depending on what happens with one edited ballot, the Boxers and Cavs could tie for eighth place.

Here are my thoughts on the West.

1. Houston Rockets - Nick, did any other team draw as wide a range of reactions? 1st place votes and 11th place votes. Story of my life.

2. Seattle Supersonics - Patrick O'Bryant single-handedly keeps this team from being my favorite.

3. Buffalo Braves - I love this team's core and have - already well-discussed - reservations about its bench. (The practical version.)

4. Phoenix - I love this team's core and have - already well-discussed - reservations about its bench. (The sentimental version.)

5. Dallas - I can only tip my cap to my Southwest division rival. The the three power forward, Marion/Smith/Lee frontcourt overlaps in all sorts of weird, wild ways. And though it's not much discussed, Brandon Jennings could be the steal of the draft.

6. Portland - Likely the league's best bench and likely its worst defensive backcourt.

7. Utah - A place for everything and everything in its place. Will Dunleavy return ahead of schedule to bolster this team's playoff odds?

8. San Antonio - Hire S.A. a new publicist. Most underrated team in league's most underrated division. I could, and maybe should, have ranked them higher. Rose, Hamilton, Jack possibly the league's best backcourt rotation. And don't players typically improve most between their rookie and sophomore seasons? And didn't Lamar Odom just win an NBA Championship?

9. New Orleans - 1st pick Lebron James (Division winner, 1st seed), 2nd pick Dwight Howard (Division winner, 1st seed), 3rd pick Kobe Bryant (Divison loser, 14th overall in the West), 4th pick Chris Paul (Division winner, 2nd seed)... Wait this is a Boston Celtics message board isn't it?

10. Golden State - Almost anybody here could make me look bad, Deng, Evans, Gallinari, even Jamaal Tinsley. Also, I love Nash and still consider him our best pure point. But, Boozer is the Lig's most overrated PF. No one knows what to expect from Deng - his numbers declined again last season and his stress-fracture still hasn't healed to the point that he can return to the court. And even the players that like Maggette don't like to play with him.

11. Memphis - Another team that should be ruining a lot of our reputations around the six month mark. I admire the bulk of this roster but not the talent at the top. I'm not sure what KC needs with two All Star score first point guards? And suspect that Lopez and Bargnani, despite their bright futures, aren't ready to lead.

12 Denver - Clearly constructed with an eye on the future. I'm not comfortable with how much rests on Greg Oden's shoulders in the short term. But every effort has been made to ensure he thrives.

13 Las Vegas - One of the youngest teams in the league, but a well-balanced starting five with a unappreciated, undiscussed amount of playoff experience. I like Chalmers, Gordon, Ariza, Beasley and Gortat to catch any numbers of better established teams guilty of looking ahead.

14 Sacramento - Strong on the wings and solid at the point. I like this team but I believe they are held back this season by a young, raw front court with little in the way of veteran guidance. Sean Marks? Brian Cook?

15 Minnesota - I don't intend to take anything away from Celtic In Orlando who made the best of a bad situation. I'm sure the Wolves would have been in the playoff discussion with the benefit of one or two predraft trades, or had the GM not had to make his 1st pick at the same time as his second.

Some good news for you Wiggle. Looks like you have a starting center after all. http://realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/61154/20090816/andersen_im_not_replacing_yao/

Andersen is expected to start at center for the Rockets entering the 2009-10 season.

I was very shocked at some voters leaving Houston out of the playoffs.

The Memphis Grizzlies think you crazy!
11. Memphis - Another team that should be ruining a lot of our reputations around the six month mark. OK, Slightly less crazy. I admire the bulk of this roster but not talent at the top.You have no admiration for Tony Parker? Back to crazy again. I'm not sure what KC needs with two All Star score first point guards?Same thing you need with two score first shooting guards, only I'm not starting them both. Because I'm not crazy. And suspect that Lopez and Bargnani, despite their bright futures, aren't ready to lead. I don't see what prevents Lopez from being a second bannana on a playoff team. And I'm not sure what kind of leadership y'all expect out of your 7th man, but I expect mine to hit shots and block the other guys. Thats about it,but then again, I'm not crazy. ;)

6. Portland - Likely the league's best bench and likely its worst defensive backcourt.

Bibby is an underrated defender, Michael Redd is competent, and Manu Ginobili and Delonte West (both good defenders), of course, will see heavy minutes.

In a way, it's too bad we won't be able to match up in the first round.  Last time Shaq was defended by Chris Bosh, he dropped 45 on him.

There you go again Portland, getting all defensive about your backcourt, its the worst thing about your team.

So I hear.  I think Bibby / Redd / Manu / Delonte matches up with any backcourt out there.

From the same article:

Quote
Andersen isn't a banging center, and is more of a finesse player than Yao.

I'm not sure that that link helps Houston a whole lot.  One of the criticisms of their team is that they don't have enough muscle up front, and Andersen isn't going to help that.  It's not like Yao is a physical beast down low, himself.

Andersen was already an unknown (remember how folks voted Sacramento and others down for relying on rookies).  Now, he's a *soft* unknown.

You and me both brother. You and me both. Of course, you're firmly in the playoffs and I have to wait through possible controversial rulings on votes that were allowed or not or edited or not and if edited whether they will be allowed or not.

Should be interesting once Dons comes forward with the final results. Good luck in the playoffs Wiggle. I'll be cheering for your team throughout.
