His scouting report is funny:

Overview: A 6-9 tweener, stuck between the 3 and 4 positions in the NBA, who basically makes a living off his ability to knock down shots and make hustle plays. Strictly a role player, it’s pretty hard to believe that he somehow managed to convince the Celtics to give him a 5-year, 15 million dollar contract considering his limitations. Was a member of the 2008 NBA Championship team.

He has a 30'' max vert according to this!? not bad. How does a 6'9'' man with a vert like that not throw it down? haha.

too bad it doesnt say body fat%, im curious now
i really disliked scal's game since he got here.  but i have to tip my cap to him for the job he did this season and the grit/determination he demonstrated with those head injuries.  im still not a big fan of his game, but he has my respect.  he can be utilized on a situational basis.
As much as he rides the bike I'd have to say it's not as high as people may think. Scal just isn't the most athletic guy in the world.

Scal's beeng great during the playoffs. Also ridiculously hot from 3 as well.

That being said, I keep feeling like Scal is the type that would accept a buyout and come back to the Celts for the minimum. He has more value toward us than any other team

The only thing that will upset me when Scal leaves Boston, is that my blogname is going to become outdated.... ::) His fake hustle never amazed me.

This isn't 6th grade P.E class where you find BS excuses to make the fat kid who's unathletic feel good about himself. This is the NBA and his "skills" were abysmal. Only thing that makes me shed a tear, is that they paid Leon 700k last year and he injures himself and ruins his playing career. In the meantime scal sat on the bench eating pizza and drank milkshakes for $3 million.....  >:(

If scal leaves the C's I would be bummed. I'd get over it though. I would be mildly more bummed than I would be if its true Bill Walker is leaving town.

I know. I'll miss saying unleash the SkyWalker in game threads.

I'm thinking he just doesn't eat well/has a slow metabolism. Even as a bench player the amount of running around and working out NBA players do in practice ect. is extreme to our standards. So..he sits on the bench, but he's more active than most people. Despite this he packs on the fat? I don't think that's just his "body type" he must regularly eat an assortment desserts to get his body.

Where's the same level of hatred for Pruitt who has done less per dollar than Scal? Or Justin Reed, or Dan Dickau, or Orien Greene, or Gerald Green, or Jiri Welsch, or Tom Gugliotta, or Chris Mihm, or Brandon Hunter, or Jumaine Jones, or Kedrick Brown, or Grant Long, and on and on...

Face it guys. We have had a lot of players over the years that have been complete wastes of money. Many much more so than Scal. The main reason you guys pick on him incessantly is because he is a pasty white redhead. If he were just some non-descript guy no one would even bring the guy up. Pretty sad that the majority of the negativity surrounds the guys looks and weight. Pretty immature.

If you leave Scal you will be missed.
You can't compare second round picks like Hunter, Reed, Greene and Pruitt. They are drafted as projects. Teams don't have high expectations that all would pan out, but we draft second round players and give them contracts because they sometimes pan out, like Powe, Gomes and Baby.

Scali is a good 12th man that can provide good play for the Celtics in small stretches.

If he is traded for a better player, I do hope cash for a buyout is included so he can return to his 12th man role.

I think I have misread your opinions of Scal in the past Wdleehi, because I 100% agree with this assessment. As a 12th man, Scalabrine does a great job, and anything over than that, he doesn't. Simply not making mistakes and hustling does not make a good player, especially when he has taken up 3 million a year on the cap for the last 4 years. I will shed no tears if he leaves, in fact I will be happy. We can find someone else, for 1/3 the money that hustles and doesn't make mistakes. If Scal gets bought out, and that's him, fine, but I have serious doubts about anyone who thinks that Scal brings anything more to the table than intangibles, effort, and the occasional 3. Easily one of Danny's biggest mistakes as GM. Perhaps only second to Mark Blount.

I was really sad when Scalabrine left New Jersey.

TP
In the summer of 2017, I predicted this team would not win a championship for the next 10 years.

3 down, 7 to go.

Since it is pretty easy to find that, please list me 3-4 players that can be had for vet minimum that can play solid defense on the 4 spot, very good overall team defense, hustles like Scal, is a great team player, and doesn't make many mistakes. They also need to have some offensive ability as well as Scal does stretch the defense with his 3 point shooting. They have to be legit PF size. I am sure DA would like you to forward him a list of those names as well since he would gladly take that for 1/3 the price. They have to be free agents though because we wouldn't want to have to trade away someone else valuable to get them. We have Scal without losing anything right now, so it has to be apples for apples.

First of all, I said its easy to find someone that can hustle and not make mistakes. So this vehement defense of Scalabrine is practically irrelevant to my point, but just to humor you...

Rob Kurz, Shelden Williams, Joe Smith, Tim Thomas, Sean May

Each of these guys are available, unrestricted, and either bring similar skill sets to Scalabrine, or better, and can most likely be had at the veteran minimum. Not to mention, I would rather take a flyer on D-Leaguer who needs a shot, than have to watch Scalabrine play for 3 million dollars as a role player.
