Scal could still be dealt.  In an effort for a backup PG those on the market are not attractive.

I hope the sign and trade fall through and they just sign him.

Me too, I'd like to keep Scal on our bench.  He knows the system and plays hard, and can spell a few minutes.  I'd rather we just sign Daniels.

Danny's a smart man, and he's never been known to overpay for players...I hope he keeps that trend going

Do the names Mark Blount and Brian Scalabrine ring a bell?

Yes indeed. Those were some desperation signings. Without them, The C's would have had a huge hole at the C and PF positions. Hopefully Ainge has learned from those mistakes. ...an empty hole is better than overpaying for inadequate filler - particularly on a rebuilding team.
Mark Blount played his tail off in that contract year, and then gave up on us. That wasn't Danny's fault. Neither was Scal shooting lights out against us, but not for us...haha

I think it is either/or and not both. If it is both, then I am hoping for another piece, either Joey Graham, Foster or Jack, althought he is getting a sizable contract MLE style from Toronto.

I would prefer it just be LLE or for TA and Pruitt, not Walker too. I still have hopes for Walker developing into a player some day.

True.  plus, I want those chips later in the season to trade for a PG.

Hmm Diener or McRoberts or Jack could work.

Jack signed an offer sheet, so it's either Toronto or Indiana for him. No other options.

That would mean his deal is anywhere between $3.3M and $5.1M in his first year. But why would we throw in Walker? Maybe that is what they want, a guy with upside, not only expirings.

That would also mean we sign Hudson and definitely a vet PG.

I can see Pruitt + Allen or Walker + Allen, but why all 3?  I was hoping we can keep some assets to use at the deadline.

Walker and Pruitt aren't exactly assets. And why trade at the deadline if you can just do it now?

If you do the spreadsheet thing (like I do), the only real deal that works out is Scale,TA,Pruitt and Giddens for Tingsley,Daniels and a protected#1. That adds up to 7.7 verus 9.1 and Indiana saves some money. If Indiana doesn't want to give up a 1, everything becomes a problem and Boston doesn't do the deal. If Indiana insists on Walker instead of Giddens, it is 7.5 versus 9.1 but Boston may balk.
I can't see them giving up Foster instead of Tingsley even if they save the 1. If that happens, I will be surprised.

I'm new to these boards so this may be a stupid question:

Before doing the deal, why wasn't everything decided up-front?

I'm not saying don't trade now.  I was hoping we can get him with minimal players and hold onto some assets to deal at the deadline - If you need something at that time - in case of injury or whatever.  For instance, do we have enough assets left to trade for a Jared Jack or similar if Rondo goes down?
