"If the Pacers and the Celtics work out a sign-and-trade involving Marquis Daniels, Indiana could end up landing Tony Allen and Brian Scalabrine.

The Boston Herald reported on Saturday that the Celtics could offer the Pacers a number of expiring contracts in a sign-and-trade, including those of Allen and Scalabrine."

Nothing new, just an article from the herald.

I don't know why the Pacer's would want those expiring contracts, are they sending someone else with Daniels? Unless they want to use those expiring themselves to make some other trades or something.

Would prefer him at the LLE and save Tony and Scal as chips in a better deal down the road.

That's too much combined salary for daniels. Better deal if we ge him for the Lle.  I'd trade Tony and pruitt for daniels though. Pacers could decline pruitt's option

I am 100% fine with this if the celts could then use the LLE on Earl Watson to back up the point.
sometimes you have to bite your lip, exhale and move on.  So, I have.

If that's the deal, I'm not quite as high on this as I was. Don't get me wrong, I am excited about having Daniels here, but Tony AND Scal's contracts combined for Daniels isn't nearly as exciting as just one of their expirings or getting Daniels for the LLE. I hope that we can hold on to some of our expirings for the trade deadline.

Agreed.

And Watson already signed with Indy, I believe.

I completely agree.  I was looking forward to having their contracts for the deadline.  If we were gonna trade them now i was hoping it would be for a guy a little better than Daniels.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

I really hope the Cs are not overpaying for Daniels....

TA+Scal = $6M.  That is way too much to pay Daniels (I could see $3M/yr, max), so if the rumor is true, then another player is probably coming back to Boston.  Or there is a third team involved....

Watson's with the Pacers: http://www.operationsports.com/forums/pro-basketball/336166-pacers-get-earl-watson.html

I hope we can hang on to at least one of these expiring contracts for the trade deadline...

Danny's a smart man, and he's never been known to overpay for players...I hope he keeps that trend going
