So essentially, it'd be Tony, Scal, and perhaps one of our young guys (JR, Walker, etc.) for Foster and Daniels...it'd definitely be upgrades at least, and solidify big man depth as long as we get Baby back.

Oh, i do like the Foster/Daniels for Scal/Allen combo. It does clear 6.6 million off their books. The C's would still have to send Pruitt, Giddens or Walker to make the numbers work.

I would also love such a trade. But if it's Foster/Daniels for Tony/Scal/Giddens, we could sign Daniels only to a max of $2.6M in the first year; I think he wants more.
I thought that he said he'd be here whether there's a trade or if he has to sign for the biannual exception? i think he wants to be here bad enough that he'd take 2.6 mil. plus, it's better than what he'd get out of the LLE.

Watson wont be involved. If a team signs a plyer from another team, I believe he becomes untradeable until Dec 15th.

Hmm Diener or McRoberts or Jack could work. McRoberts was just extneded though, and they could just let Jack walk and save the money.

Could be Diener/Daniels for Scal/Allen. ..yet Diener is also an expriring contract.

I'm stumped on this one.

i like it..i know the expiring contracts but i bet scal gets bought out and ends up back with boston...boston would also have the LLE left to sign a point or a big

Realgm rewords the original article from the boston herald poorly. The herald insinuates that Scal and TA are 2 expiring deals that would be options for the sign and trade. Either or, not both.

BTW, Chad Ford via his twitter says that the deal being discussed is TA + Pruitt + Walker for Daniels.

Apparently Indiana has been linked to Andre Miller. What if we were sending the expiring deals to Philly? Something like (roughly):

BOSTON GETS: Marquis Daniels, Jeff Foster (~ $9M)
INDIANA GETS: Andre Miller (~ 7.5M)
PHILLY GETS: Tony Allen, Scalabrine, Indiana #1 pick

That makes more sense.  :)

OTOH, Cs probably have to send something to sweeten the deal for Indy (cash, 2nd rounder) if it is a S&T...

Now why would we do that? We're in the driver's seat.

How are we in the drivers seat?

Because Daniels is coming to Boston no matter what. So the Pacers are going to try to get something out of this... and quickly.

Danny's a smart man, and he's never been known to overpay for players...I hope he keeps that trend going

Do the names Mark Blount and Brian Scalabrine ring a bell?

I like keeping Scal, but that's about it.  I would prefer using the LLE on Daniels, and keeping Tony, Pruitt and Walker instead of losing those three guys and paying Daniels $4M/yr (which is what those contracts equal).

TA for Daniels would be great. I like having the LLE for a pg or another bigman.

But it sounds like it is Boston that wants to do the S&T, for financial reasons (so BOS doesn't go further into luxury tax),

Gee, I think we make out fine talent-wise even if it is Scal/Tony for Daniels (Daniels is the best of the 3). However, the approximately 5 mil price tag that it would mean for Daniels seems unrealistic.  Therefore, I think this won't happen.

More likely Scal or Tony and perhaps one of Giddens/Walker/Pruitt.  The domino that does fall if it's Scal is that it seems to increase the likelihood that BBD will be matched.  That is, unless there is some cash involved and a wink-wink that Indy will buyout Scal and Scal will return to the C's.  But in this scenario I see the only real benefit going to Daniels himself (more money) after he has already committed to play for the LLE (why would Danny want to pay double -- plus double luxury tax -- when he can underpay for talent with the LLE and then shed Scal/TA in another deal?).  I am hoping this starts to make sense soon.

Yes indeed. Those were some desperation signings. Without them, The C's would have had a huge hole at the C and PF positions. Hopefully Ainge has learned from those mistakes. ...an empty hole is better than overpaying for inadequate filler - particularly on a rebuilding team.
