Just a quick snip here and there. I've got an all purpose NBA fantasy draft Excel sheet.

Maybe I should have a cardboard sign that reads, "Will Work for Tommy Points."

I'm trying to get an earlier draft pick, which would be closer to 5 (1) then its current position

Just one GM's POV:

Atlantic - Boston leading by a bunch. Wade 6th in the draft was a steal. They have three plus rebounders up front with experience. One big can stretch out to tripsland and the other has a great mid range game. The other three teams are all pretty close with all seemingly in win now mode.

Central - for me the preference is Chicago because they have the best defensive unit probably in the entire Eastern Conference though I like what Detroit has done.

Southeast - LeBron SchmeBron, Washington by a mile. ;D

Northwest - Denver is obviously going for the Future team but they just might be too young. Other teams that have proven 23-26 year olds might be a better bet in the Future's area. Portland is good. So are the other teams but I see no great team.

Southwest - power conference with possibly 3 teams among the top 10 in the league. San Antonio is a great Future team and Houston and Dallas shine.

Pacific - Buffalo rules here and are my early favs for team of the year.

The Detroit Pistons select Samuel Dalembert, a perfect fit for their team. Amare has been known for not being too strong of a defender, so why not give him a defensive minded true center?

Dalembert's stats were down last year due to limited minutes, but in 07-08 he averaged 10.5 ppg, 10.4 rpg, and 2.3 bpg.

With Dalembert, the Pistons have completed their starting lineup.

Dalembert
Amare
G WAllace
Rip Hamilton
Mo Williams

Not only are they a talented bunch, but they all fit well together as each posesses an important skill set..

Ugh wow, Nice pick, Im ashamed to say i missed sammy entirely this morning ranking my picks for center.

Good thing this is a game, i'm like chris wallace bad for missing not only him but also pryz in my evals.

Sam Dalembert is like a man with an eyepatch at a poker table, ya can't trust him.

Oh i wouldn't have picked him, and i still really like what i got in gortat a lot.

However, i probably would have taken prz over gortat, and with sammy available as an emergency third option, I would have stood pat trade wise, and not paid to move up 4 spots to secure a defensive center with length to allow AV to move over to the 6th man role and beas to the 4.

I'm not upset at my eval of gortat, I'm just mad at myself for moving up for him when those two were on the board, if that makes sense.

one man's rushed eval of the center position at 10 am during a work day is another's gain in picking power though, eh IP?  ;D

Haha.  With five all-stars and an up-and-coming big man, I'd put us pretty close to "great" already.

The "role player" rounds are just about upon us.

This is the make or break time.  A strong bench is a must.

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
Phoenix Suns:

PG: Ramon Sessions, 23 yrs old, 6'3, 9th in assists to turnover ratio, 9th in assists per 48 mins

SG: James Harden, 19yrs old, 6'5, David Thorpe says "He plays like a 10-year vet -- nothing is rushed or forced -- and he was the best passer on the floor every time he suited up. Factor in his ability to shoot, score and make plays on both sides of the ball, and the case can be made that he should have gone No. 2 overall in the draft."

SF: Josh Howard, 29urs old, 6'7, 3 straight seasons of 18pts, 5 rbs

PF Al Jefferson, 24 yrs old, 23 pts 11 rbs last season. Best low post scorer in NBA.

C: Joel Pryzbilla, 29 yrs old, behind Dwight Howard at 2nd in rebounds per 48,  Hollinger says: Przybilla has always been a force at the defensive end, but last season he toned down the wild swats for blocks and the blatant goaltending violations and stayed on the floor more often. That helped in two ways -- first, he drew an insane number of charges, and second, his already strong rebound numbers went through the roof. At 7-foot-1 with good athleticism, he's a strong post defender and excels at helping against penetration from the weak side.

Young but not too young, experienced but not worn down. This is a team that's built to win now and win tomorrow. A good mix of defensively serviceable primarily offensive players, except Joel Pryzbilla who we expect to step up in a big way.

2 picks in the 5th, plus 6 picks between the rounds 6-9 leaves them in a good place to fill out the rest of the roster.

like that is always lethal." - Evan 'The God' Turner
