I think the Nocioni trade that was discussed at the deadline will be revisited in the offseason. I am not sure if there is a match there or not, but I fully expect it to at least be discussed. The real question will be whether Big Baby will be a part of it. He supposedly was part of the rumored trade in February, and if the Kings really like him, he could be part as a sign and trade, making it even easier to match salaries.
if that did go down then we would be have a Big Baby-sized hole in the front court. Yikes!
Sheed and Nocioni would probably be able to hold the fort down until Leon came back...hmm, interesting.
Yeah, it would have to be in conjunction with the signing of another big man.
The other thing is that if they sign and trade Davis, with say, Tony Allen, then they would still have Scal as depth up front. If you had a big man rotation of KG, Perk, Sheed or McDyess, Nocioni, and Scal, with Powe coming back the last couple months of the season, it wouldn't be bad. They could also sign a vet minimum big guy as insurance.
I think i would be down with that. contingent on the big being a legit player and not a project like a Swift, etc...
how would that work out for us salary-wise? Would be be back in the 80 mil zone?
Oh yeah, I think no matter what, they need to be going after one of the top big men out there, like Sheed, McDyess, or Zaza. Anything less will leave a hole on this team, whether Baby comes back or not, since we can't count on Powe.
Salary-wise, that would put them in the $85 million range, putting the actual salary numbers close to $100 million, when you take into account the luxury tax.
If this is too steep for them, I would expect we see a more dramatic roster move, with them trading Ray in a deal where they can get some cap relief, and fill a couple extra holes with his roster spot. But if they are willing to spend the money, then this is certainly viable.
