I think some people are drinking some major coolaid. Big Baby plays on a team with 3 Hall of Famers, and some would argue, 4 all stars. He benefits from a lot of open looks, and though he's become more confident to take those shots, and more aggressive, he would be seriously exposed if he were on a team like OKC and there was regularly a body on him.
That said, I'm pleasantly surprised by his sudden consistency, but not to the point where I'd even mention him in the same breath as Jeff Green, who could easily play the Robbin to Durant's Batman.
I also think there is a misconception to this filling in adequately to Kevin Garnett's shoes. Baby is playing his role to a T, irrespective of the number of minutes he's logged. More minutes, more points, and vice versa. This team gives up 90 ppg when KG is on the floor and nearly 100 ppg when he's not. Nobody fills KGs shoes.
With PP, Ray, Rondo, House, Baby, and Powe, we can score with anyone in the league. But without KG, we don't defend. Its really that simple. Nobody, and I mean nobody on this team fills KGs shoes. Thats just a statistical fact. The only one we can even talk about in that sense in Perk.
