Rondo is as good as he's gonna get.  He should have broke out this year but instead he is playing   the same, which is good but not great.  He is going to demand a hefty salary in a year and I don't think we should invest in a point guard that can't shoot and isn't even the 3rd smartest player on his team.  It's known that Doc can't communicate with him and that's why they kept Sam around.

Rondo is a good player but I don't believe we will resign him and so if you can put a package together that lands a big and then sign Marbury.  I think our team is better.

A lot of people will disagree with this because of our current record but is Rondo the reason we have a great record?  He hurts and helps this team and we've won despite his faults more times than we've won because of his positive attributes.

Is this a bad attempt at sarcastic humor, JR Giddens trolling under another account, or a serious post?

I think it's JR Giddens trolling under another account. That does seem to be the most likely option.

Assuming this post is legit,

You can only break our so much playing with KG, PP & Ray. He is averaging over 8 assists a game, and that is big. What do you want from Rondo? Why are you so fixated on jump shots?

What big are you talking about landing? Pointless post with mentioning who you think we can get worth getting rid of Rondo and most likely giving up on this season. Marbury will not be an upgrade. He doesn't know the system, and he is a very different player. He cannot pressure the opposing point guard, meaning much more work for the other Celtic defenders. I am being fairly generous to Marbury here. Considering our offensive efficiency for the starters is very high, your suggestion seems horrible and far from what we need.

There is also the problem of signing a player already under contract with the Knicks. A player can only sign with one team at a time.

The "Doc can't communicate with him" comment is nonsense. Please flip your calendar 2 years forward to join us in 2009. Your interpretation of why they kept Sam around is your interpretation. Don't pretend it is some sort of common knowledge when it is speculation.

man u are craaazy.
and clearly dont know what to look for in a PG. he is a really good PG without a jumper.
if eventually is able to hit it consistently, he could be one of the top in this league

I must admit, my first reaction was "What? No!"

But then I thought about it for a while.

The TC makes some points.

None of them are good.

No.

Yeah sure.....lets trade our best young player and while we're at it, lets throw in Perk.....lets ship them all out.....

Have a look at what happens when Rondo plays good, we win.....when he plays bad, we lose.....

Very very very stupid post.

Rondo is the last person we should trade, and isnt getting traded.

Rondo's salary is so low that you're not going to be able to land many true impact players for him.  Also, the thought of trading him for "a big" is strange, in that it seems like you're suggesting trading a starter for a bench player.  Why do that?

Also, it's not like Rondo is making a fool of himself out there.  He's tied for fourth in the NBA in assists per game.  He's fourth in assists per minute, and he's fifth among starters in assist to turnover ratio.  He's tied for first among PGs in FG%, and is fourth in the NBA in steals.

Lastly, the thought that Starbury can contribute as much as Rondo is just silly.  The last time he averaged as many assists as Rondo is this season was five years ago, and he's a known team killer.

foolishness.

8+ assists a game, 2 triple doubles, destroyed j kidd last week.
if we traded rondo we'd spend the next decade looking for a comparable point guard.

we spent way to long envying other teams point guards, i'm personally not willing to go there again.

In the OP's defense, Rondo is probably their most attractive player to other teams who would be looking to build for the future - he's the celtics best young player.
and the big 3 have probably maybe 2 more seasons of playing near this level.
so if you could trade a young guy for a better chance to win again now or next year, i think you'd have to at least consider it.

although for salary reasons and the reality of what other players are available i doubt it's going to happen.

I only hope that we can pick up marcus banks in the process.  Now that is a kid with real potential!
