Rajon Pierre Rondo:

  • Ranks second in total assists
    Third in total steals
    fourth in assists a game
    fourth in steals per game
fourth in defensive win shares (First among guards)
5th in defensive ratings (First among ALL guards
    12th in total win shares
Two absolutely stuffed triple doubles on the season

Easily could/should have been an all star, likely will be one next year
likely to be named to one of the all defensive teams
Already led a 60+ win team to an NBA champion, at 22.

Yes, it is indeed obvious we need to trade young Rajon.

Trading Rondo would be the definition of winning.

Rondo doesnt have a high basketball IQ? disagree
You dont trust rondo at the end of games? again, I disagree, rondo showed an ability to knock down the open jumper all throughout last years playoffs and showed a higher IQ then any other PG on the roster, why people turn a blind eye to that is beyond me, he did it in every series at crucial times, and outplayed the opposing PG consistently. I actually trust the celtics most when rondo is on the floor, because of his high IQ and because hes our only legit PG, and he makes KG,  Ray and everyone else better with his passing/speed/defensive abilites...Pierce has an ability to create his own, so not as much Pierce

Rondo is as good as hes ever going to get? based off of what? he already has more assists this year than all of last year, and imo he has as much room to grow as any PG in the league and is already a champ...I think another underrated thing is...RONDO IS A WINNER, and is the last person on this team the celtics should trade...and its not happening.
we can win and be an elite team with rondo NOW, and hes also our PG of the future, he may be the most untradable guy we have

I didnt realize Rondo was so low in so many of those statistical categories. My gosh, he was no better then 3rd, and in only one of those statistical areas. Most of them he was only 4th or maybe even, heaven forbid, 5th. We better trade him right now for Chris Paul. Let's not wait of Rondo to get any better either. He has already been in the league for 3 years. If he can't dominate by now and be number one in all statistical categories then lets get rid of him. While I am at it, I saw Ray miss a free throw the other night too. Off with his head! And, I think KG is slowing down some too. He's not near the player he once was. I bet we could trade him for Amare and be just as good as the Suns. Kendrick has been slouching a little too. I saw him getting tired when he was out for 5 games and we cant have that.

He ranks #1 in missed lay ups after his super cool ball fake

Roy, would you trade Rondo for Aldrich straight up?

I wonder if the internet existed back in the 50s and 60s if there would be threads like "trade cousy" - man that guy is too flashy, his ceiling has already been hit

or "trade Russell" - that dude has no offense, get us someone who can help us in the future

No, because Aldridge can't play point guard.

Steve, I don't chime in too often anymore, but this is flat out ridiculous.  No, I would NEVER trade him straight up for LaMarcus ALDRIDGE.  (I don't know who this Aldrich guy you are talking about is).

First, a true PG is a VERY rare find - and Rondo is by definition a TRUE PG

Second, this kid has gotten better, and better, and better, with every game, playoff series, and season he has been in the NBA.

Third,.......  I don't need a 3rd here.

As annoying as all of the trade Ray threads are, this one is (no offense) laughable.  You speak of Rondo's "basketball IQ" and at the same time exhibit very little knowledge on your own in your posts.  This kid has as high of a hoops IQ as any player in the league right now, save Chris Paul.

There is a HUGE difference between lack of IQ and development, and Rondo is currently developing.

He is developing a shot (MUCH IMPROVED FROM LAST SEASON).
He is developing the confidence to take the ball to the hole (Maybe 3 guys in the league can keep him from going to the hole at will, MAYBE).
He is developing his very unique set of moves that astound everyone who plays against him or watches him.
He is developing leadership skills that have him as the on-court leader of perhaps the most seasoned set of core players the league has seen for a LONG time.
He is developing a reputation as the best on the ball defending PG in the entire league.

To even think of trading him for anything short of Chris Paul at this point would be a move worthy of ML Carr/Pitino - i.e. if we were gunning for the lottery.

Bottom line, there are no favorable arguments for getting rid of the future of our team, especially since he is a HUGE part of our CURRENT team, which is 44-11 by the way, with a 16 game lead in our division!

I'll be honest, I'd have to trade him for Deron Williams too.

Roy, would you trade Rondo for Aldrich straight up?

Nope.  I think Aldridge is a good player, but he's got as many flaws in his game at this stage as Rondo does.  Of the two, Rondo is the one who has won a championship.

I like Steve Blake more than most people, so if he was in the deal, I think the Celtics would consider it.  I still think they'd pass, but it would be a fair offer (and from Portland's perspective, perhaps overpaying).  I think for our team, Rondo fits too well to give him up unless we're blown away.

All the negativity in this town sucks. It sucks, and it stinks, and it sucks. - Rick Pitino

I may add Williams to that, but I even see him as a lateral move since he is proving to be more of a scorer and doesn't seem to be developing the same leadership ability as RR.  But I would give you that it would have to be thought about... at length.
