EJ, you clearly have a bias against Davis. Davis hasn't been a "little" better than Powe, he's been much better than Powe for one. But this isn't about that anyways.
I guess Davis didn't rebound the ball when he came in for Garnett. We did have quite a few offensive rebounds during that stretch. About 4 if not mistaken.
I find it quite hilarious that you ask for people to be consistent and reasonable when discussing Scal, and then do quite the contrary when BBD, Tony, and Cassell are involved.
Davis had 1 offensive rebound the entire game. Powe had 5 (More than the 3 BBD had in total) and 7 total. That in about 30% less minutes than Powe. That isn't a one game thing here. Powe has been out-rebounding BBD the entire year and last year. We ALL know he is a better rebounder. Even when his game was off he out-rebounded Davis. The rest of the TEAM only had 7 offensive rebounds in the game and one was from KG, so I think you are creatively remembering those 4 offensive boards in that small stretch...
I was thrilled to have BBD when we drafted him. He has talent and where we got him was great value. What I didn't like though was his adding of fat through the entire year and over the offseason. NO ONE wants to talk about that. Everyone wants to talk about how much potential he has, and what a great player he is with the little non-measurable things. Nobody wants to talk about his horrid shooting, his absolute lack of a low post offensive game, his credit card measurable jump. No one wants to comment on the fact that it takes a completely lazy attitude to let yourself add that weight back. Yet Powe who has a lot of BIG GAMES under his belt, doesn't complain, does the dirty work, and keeps himself in great shape just because Powe is smart enough to realize those things are necessary to win. That he isn't a good shooter and so it is smarter not to take those 18 footers. Powe did nothing but attack the rim during that stretch. Sure he wasn't his typical self, but he kept doing the things he was good at and made sure he was hustling on the boards and being aggressive.
I don't hate BBD, but I don't overlook this lack of effort at the buffet table. If he wants to just be a decent backup, then fine, but I am going to put my support behind the guy willing to give it his all on and OFF the court.
That was the first good game Leon played in a month...leon is really not that good and has been a dissapointment altogether this season...where were you after the philli game? i cant stand these Powe guys who come out after a bad game from bbd..get a life
Imagine that. Tattered is jumping in on my post to try and argue against it. I'm glad it gives you a purpose in life...
Here are the facts though:
He was 2-2 from the floor, 2-3 from the FT line, had 6 pts and 4 boards in 17 minutes against Philly. Not sure where you think that is a poor game, but okay...
He shot 53% from the floor in the month of Nov averaging 6.7 and 4.1 boards in 17 min.
He shot 52% from the floor in Dec averaging 6.3 and 3.6 in 13.5 min.
He shot 54% from Jan 1- Jan 17 averaging 6.7 pts and 5 boards in 16 min.
In February he is shooting 62.5% and averaging 7.7 pts and 5 boards in 17 min.
What you guys are using as your sample size for bad games labeling them as this season, or months at least, is a total of 7-8 games. Two of those 8 were at least considered so-so games. The guy has 5 bad games and we are going to label him as having a bad season?!
Look at BBD's stats. They are the EXACT OPPOSITE! He played like garbage in Nov, Dec, and most of January, but a hot stretch of 7-8 games and he is suddenly so much better than Powe?
THAT is the reason that I am in Powe's corner.
BTW. "Get a Life" I think is outside of the rules of the blog. Keep your personal attacks to yourself.
