Portland Trail Blazers guard Shaedon Sharpe sustained a torn meniscus in his right knee and is expected to miss six months, sources told ESPN's Shams Charania on Monday.

The injury occurred during an offseason workout recently and will sideline Sharpe for a significant period of the 2026-27 season, sources said.

Tough break for Portland.

Williams spent the last three seasons with the Dallas Mavericks. The 6-foot-1 point guard became a key rotation player at the end of the 2024-25 season. Last season, Williams averaged 13 points, 2.9 rebounds and 3.9 assists in 22.2 minutes per game.

I would have much preferred him to (old age pensioner) Mike Conley.

Conley is here specifically because he will accept his role and be a great teammate/mentor for the younger guys. He's won Teammate of Year twice is extremely well respected. It's not like he's useless at this point in his career either, you just can't expect him to carry a full-time load at the position. There's a reason he was our first FA signing immediately after FA began.

I think there was a leadership void with Horford gone. Feel like Mike is on the roster for that reason. Basically a player-coach at this point.

Conley shot 40%+ from 3 in 2024-25 and 2023-24.  Then cratered to 33% in 2025-26.  I have not seen Conley look good in several season.  I don't understand this signig.  It is hard to lead from the end of the bench, no matter how good of a guy you are.  It isn't like you can get a game changer with a min contract very often, but I think they could have done better than Conley.

It's one of those Udonis Haslem signings.  Basically an unofficial coach.
