if maxiell was the one doing that to perk people here would be singing a different tune. perk is one of my fave celts, even more than rondo.. but what he did was uncalled for

what maxiell did after doesnt make what perk did right.

its not a hard foul.. its a cheap wrestling move.. headlock takedown..

if say rip do that to rondo what would you say?

imo Perk will get suspended and he does deserve it.  I also think Maxiel should have been thrown out for his reaction.  Perk was wrong, but so was Maxiel.  To me it doesn't matter whether he was provoked or not, you are a professional act like it. what perk did and what maxiel did are totaly different incidents and can not be compared, but each is worthy of an early exit.

as a Celts fan I like Perks physical play, even when it crosses the line.  It was a hard foul, it was a "flagrant" foul.  But so was McHale's on Rambis and as posted earlier Bill's on Bird. I always loved Lambier for his play, hated that it came out against the Celtics, but loved that he played like that.  To say he is classless, ect totaly crosses the line.  It's a physical game, hard fouls and even flagrant fouls are part of it. gotta say it doesn't bother me one iota.

as for costing him a game against the wolves.  i couldn't care less.  i respect what kevin is doing with them and I love Al as much as the next homer, but come on.  i somehow doubt Perks absence is going to have an effect of the C's dismantling of the Wolves. They have no PG and when Rondo plays well the C's win.

What is going to help the Celtics is that

1) Perk was tossed from the game

2) no one got hurt

3) no brawl broke out.

There is a good chance he doesn't get suspended because of these reasons.

Shut up cry babies! Get over it, & it wasnt that hard of a foul if the guy can get up & return blows with 2 seconds. Last I checked, a hard foul was one that resulted in a player being stunned, hurt or in apparent pain! You guys definitely never must have played any college basketball or pro sports of any nature if you think that was the worst thing you have seen since Laimbeer. You guys are ridiculous! My dad fouled me harder in the drive way when I was younger & I wasnt 6'8" 264 like Maxiell, more like 6'4" 190 soak & wet at the time with nothing but cement to break my fall. Maybe thats why I made it playing pro football, you gotta be tough & get up!

IMO it was not bad that he fouled him. It is acceptable to tie someone up or pretend he's going for the ball and just missed. What really made it was bad is that he brought him down. Maxiell is a thug and probably instigated it.
I love Perk I think he just gets over excited and does stupid things.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

I completely agree. As I bet Doc does too. That closeline was not only classless, but unnecessary. We were winning and Max had done nothing to Perk on any play before hand. I don't get how a player could make such a stupid decision. I am really glad the team pulled threw to prevent a loss in a close game, but next game will suck b/c Perk will get a suspension. Here comes Pat0 into the starting lineup...maybe he can prove something

Maxiell should then get suspended for his reaction afterwards. KG got suspended for less not to long ago..

I still think the ejection and fine is enough.

I hope Perk is suspended. That was a ridiculous foul. Maxiell's reaction wasn't bad at all. He had just been thrown to the ground by another player. All he did was shove Perk in the rear as he walked away.

I am also disappointed in fans who compare this to the Bynum foul. Not at all comparable. Perk clearly had bad intentions. He wrapped his arm around the neck of another player, threw him to the ground, and tried to get away after.

Perk needs to get his temper under control. I am not against out of control players like Artest or Rasheed, so I can accept Perk's defect. But it is disappointing.

I don't think what Maxiell did makes what Perk did right but it sure does not make Maxiell any better. If Maxiell did not deserve what happened to him neither did Rondo.

He punched Rondo. I don't mind him shoving Perk but Rondo did not deserve a punch.

If Bynum's foul doesn't warrant a suspension then Perk's doesn't. That was a far more dangerous play.

He was rightfully called for a flagrant 2 and ejected. That comes with a fine and the points added. That's all that is called for. Sadly after the KG suspension I won't be surprised if they do suspend him a game. Oh well we'll manage.

Um, I keep saying this, but it couldve been much worse...He couldve retaliated after Maxiell got up, put out his chest, shoved perk and punched rondo...but he didnt do anything and looked like he realized what he did was wrong and deserving of an ejeection.
Did you see shaqs foul on stuckey, or Bynums on Gerald Wallace? it happens..it was a hard foul, a little bit dirty, but dissapointed in perk? um no...now if he swung at Maxiell after maxiell clearly punched rondo, maybe

Youre the same guy who said "this celtics team is a dissapointment" yet they won a title there first year together, and sit here today with the best record in the league...get over it

Lol what?  Perkins definitely did not make a play on the ball, so it's a Flagrant 1 without question.  Perk did not even pretend to make a play on the ball.  That said, Flagrant 2 is pushing it - relatively speaking this was not so bad.

It had been a chippy game from the beginning.  Maxiell got away with a foul on House on the rebound.  Perk decided to ascribe to the "No Layups" philosophy and took Maxiell down.  Yeah, there was a headlock involved, but it's not like he swung, tackled, or did anything else with momentum.  He simply brought the man down and walked away.

As far as the "retaliation" you speak of.  No punch was thrown at Rondo.  I don't know where the hell you came up with that.  Watch the replay, watch it twice...watch it drunk.  There is no punch.

Does Maxiell deserve a suspension for pushing Perk?  No.  He was "standing up for himself" (knowing the refs and his team were going to separate him from Perk.  Is Perk a Bad Boy for taking down Maxiell?  No, he walked away, even after getting pushed.  He wasn't going to brawl anyone, and rightfully so.

I'd be shocked to see any suspensions over this.  I'd actually be quite surprised if Perk's F2 doesn't get downgraded to F1.  On second thought, given Perk's reputation, maybe not.

But this is much ado about nothing.  I really think it had no tangible impact on the game from either side.
God bless and good night!

What Perk did tonight was stupid. And he let his emotions get the better of him. That has happened a number of times this year with him though he's not racking up as many technicals as he was in the early part of the year. He does have to be much more careful of that. He's lucky as Wide Load said a brawl didn't break out nor was Maxiell hurt.

That said, even despite the T's, I don't classify Perk as  thug or a dirty player at all. Maybe just someone who like Sheed in the heat of the moment doesn't always make the wisest decisions and can sometimes let his emotions take him too far. But even still, he plays so well with that emotional edge and you can't take that away from him. And until he starts costing us games, his good will far exceed the bad by miles. I could care less how the Celtics are viewed around the NBA as long as they're viewed as CHAMPIONS first.

And maybe if the situations had been reversed I'd be livid............but it's not. So too bad. I don't care. And maxiell and anyone who has a problem with it can go cry about it for all I care. All I know is we got a tough win tonight.
Never underestimate the predictability of stupidity...

Judging by his demeanor before, during and after, which never changed, it seems that it was a calculated incident.

Though I don't condone what he did, I don't have a problem with it, due to the fact I believe it was Perk sending a message.

I'd much rather him do this every now and again, than be like Pau Gasol, who's been known to cry after a heavy sneeze.

All in all, it continues to send a message that we're gonna hit you, we're gonna smack you, we're gonna defend this title until we win it all again this year. If what Perk did is part of that, then I'm all for it.

Some people keep mentioning his 'demeanor' but I think Perk always seems to have a scowl on his face.

Perk may not have made the play look as good as he could have meaning it could have been done in a little less obvious way. But, sometimes a message has to be sent. Look at how many times Rondo gets leveled while driving to the basket and that is far more dangerous to a player. Perk did throw Maxiel to the ground but I would rather be thrown to the ground from a standing position then knocked to the floor while driving the ball to the basket. Perk's attitude is what it is and every team would love a player like him wether they admit it or not.
