It was funny when he threw down Desmond Mason in a similar manner his 2nd year in the NBA. He was a bench warmer who saw some minutes and gave us glimpses of the "badboy" he was going to be in the league.

But as a title defending team, this sort of behavior is kind of repulsive to see as a fan. There was no need for him to clothesline a lesser opponent (ESPECIALLY a lesser opponent). It shows lack of class. It's something that makes for a highlight on a borderline playoff team like the one we had in 2004 when Perk did something of that nature before. Now, it's stupid.

I know people will say, well what about Bruce Bowen? Or Dennis Rodman? (or some other player who got away with stuff on good teams in their careers)

Doesn't make what he did right. And he'll probably get a 1 game suspension. He already leads the league in technicals. This was dumb more than anything. It certainly doesn't help his rep with the ref's.

I completely agree. As I bet Doc does too. That closeline was not only classless, but unnecessary. We were winning and Max had done nothing to Perk on any play before hand. I don't get how a player could make such a stupid decision. I am really glad the team pulled threw to prevent a loss in a close game, but next game will suck b/c Perk will get a suspension. Here comes Pat0 into the starting lineup...maybe he can prove something
Can't stop, Rondo!

Maxiell should then get suspended for his reaction afterwards. KG got suspended for less not to long ago..

I still think the ejection and fine is enough.

Would be interesting after letting Bynum off the hook. The only rational for suspending Perkins would be based on prior behavior. That is the only thing that saved Bynum.

Perkins doesn't take crap, this team shouldn't take crap, everyone hits us hard, lets hit them harder. Were the strongest team in the league. Show it!

Totally different situation. Bynum received a flagrant 1. Perk got a flagrant 2 and ejection tonight, which usually is followed up by a 1 game suspension. Especially if it's a clothesline. It's an automatic suspension

Um, not if it's dirty and totally against the rules. Then it reflects very poorly on a team. That doesn't make them "tough."

there's a difference between "toughness" and "thugness"...perk continually doesn't get this and he needs to be able to keep his emotions more in check.

i do NOT respect him for what he did tonight...it was uncalled for.  it wasn't a robert parish-bill laimbeer thing - we'd NEVER seen parish lose his temper like that (at the worst of all times too).  but perk is a league leader in tech's and it's simply a stupid habit that needs to be broken.

i like the idea of him being tough...but he continually crosses a line.

I thought Bynum's flagrant was changed. Not sure but I thought it was.

I think Perk needs a definition of the line.

Um, I keep saying this, but it couldve been much worse...He couldve retaliated after Maxiell got up, put out his chest, shoved perk and punched rondo...but he didnt do anything and looked like he realized what he did was wrong and deserving of an ejeection.
Did you see shaqs foul on stuckey, or Bynums on Gerald Wallace? it happens..it was a hard foul, a little bit dirty, but dissapointed in perk? um no...now if he swung at Maxiell after maxiell clearly punched rondo, maybe

Youre the same guy who said "this celtics team is a dissapointment" yet they won a title there first year together, and sit here today with the best record in the league...get over it

I'm not happy with what happened especially because it seemed he'd worked hard the past couple of months to avoid techs. Sometimes I forget that that Perk is still young. Hopefully he'll learn from this and continue working to keep his emotions under control. I do like that he (and Rondo) didn't react after he was pushed though the situation might have escalated.
Tommy: He's got a line about me. Tell him the line.

Mike: Everybody 60 or over knows Tommy as a player. Everybody 40 or over knows Tommy as a coach. Everybody 20 or over knows Tommy as a broadcaster. And everybody 10 or under thinks he's Shrek.

Did MAxiell not act more like the thug? perk fouled him hard and didnt do a thing afterawards and easily could've after maxiells reaction.. please people, half of you supported bynum after his hard foul and someone got seriously injured and now are gonna sit here and be dissapointed in perk? what is going on here? maxiell is fine
And the team actually rallied around perk being ejected, and I think we should brush this off and do the same, you guys act like he does it all the time..his techs earlier in the season were completly different

i think the key question is this: is perk a DIRTY ballplayer?

yes, he's mean...he tends to cross a line an awful lot...but i do NOT think he's "dirty" and intends to harm anyone (at least i hope not).  i believe he sees himself as an enforcer, like a "goon" in hockey that protects his best player (though there are probably less than 5 goons in hockey now that it's become a skill/skating game).

maybe a suspension is what he needs to wake him up...but the part we don't know is how his teammates respond to him.  maybe KG and PP and Ray encourage him...who knows.  i bet doc doesn't really like it, yet i also bet he doesn't want him to change all that much about the way he plays.

as stated earlier, he simply needs a definition of what the line is.  and then he'll simply ignore it... :)

Change the way he plays? since when does he do things like this? its the first time hes  been ejected, and hes done nothing even close to this the last 2 years
TPD, really? when does he continually cross the line?
