  • The good ole days.
The Minnesota Timberwolves add more size, but this time a player that actually has SOME track record in the NBA.  With the 2nd pick in the 11th round, they select the NBA sophomore that had a higher PER last year (as a rookie) than Sean Williams, Kendrick Perkins, Joel Przybilla, Ben Wallace, Spencer Hawes, Zaza Pachulia, Mark Blount, and Darko Milicic.  Not that it's impressive... but he has the possibility for great value here.  At 7'0, 270 lb. from Pitt, with Per48 averages of almost 21-13-3... the Wolves select Aaron Gray

Now THAT was a mouthful for the commish to read at the podium.

P.S.  I swear I read he was injured and possibly out most of the year, yet in a quick google search didn't find any confirmation.  I was going to take him either way, but does anyone know for sure if he's hurt?

Also, to heat things up a little b/c we've gotten quite a few offers about him:

We're open to trading Rasheed Wallace.

I will also add I think he's a perfect compliment to Sam Dalembert so we're not going to give him away.

I don't recall anything about this. Perhaps you're thinking of another member of his draft class who recently sustained an ACL tear? [I won't mention his name, because he's still on the board.]

Haha, we'll see.  I saw some stuff that I liked from him last year.  He played solid in every game that he got at least 20 minutes last year, including a 19 point, 22 rebound season finale.  Certainly a decent 'risk' in the 11th round.

Aaron Gray can be useful, you just need to play within his abilities. He's about as mobile as jabba the hut, but he's a big body and he seems to really want to succeed. Thats gotta count for something, right?

Yeah, I remember who it was now... equally white and equally generic name.

Yeah, I had him on my draft board.  He'll have a long career because of his size, but he's just an entirely average player.  I got to experience his college career firsthand and he's always looked steady, if unspectacular.  Basically he's a 7-1 Scal.

Wow, I thought this was year Horry might have made it through the draft and  into free agency...Guess I was wrong :-\

That's one of the most positive things I read about Gray... he is a tireless worker who really wants to become better.  Add that to his size and, from what I saw, pretty decent skills (just is slow and immobile) and you have a perfect 11th rounder and 3rd center.

Not with 15 rounds...the 15th is gonna be a barren wasteland of talent.
