The following teams either haven't been active or I have a strong suspicion they will be no shows for the draft.

#6 Knicks - LeahyIsGod  ... I've been informed that the commish knows this person personally, but I haven't received a single message from him.   Perhaps the Knicks should be auctioned off to the person willing to give the most tommy points to LeahyIsGod.   The fans of the franchise are outraged by the lack of activity and demand that the team be sold.

#15 76ers - DinoRadjaLives ... Another proud franchise being lead by an absent owner.   Not one single peep from this man.  And as people know... I demand peeps.  I demand lots and lots of peeps.   I again suggest the franchise be auctioned off to the highest bidder.

#23 Cavs - celticswillwin43 ... Hasn't this city suffered enough?  I messaged celticswillwin43 back on the 29th and received the following response:  "i really dont know what ur talking about..explain please? haha"... Dear Cleveland fans... prepare to suffer a lot more.   Sell the team!  Sell the team!

#27 Jazz - Scribbles  ... Haven't heard a peep.  I need my peeps.  If i don't get my peeps I can't sleep.

#28 Bucks - bucknersrevenge ... I got one word from him back on the 29th.  He said, ""dude i dont know what were talkin about. i havent received any word yet on my team or draft position yet to even understand you.".   Hopefully he has figured it out since then... otherwise, I suggest we get on SOSH and see if Bill Simmons is still interested in living out his fantasy.

I could be wrong about any of the above posters... but felt I should do my part.  If all these people are no-shows the 1st round could get interesting.

I can confirm that all other posters and teams have been active to some extent.

Just so you know, LEAHYISGOD won most of those TPs in the 'NFL Suicide league'.   He won the first three times we did it.

Anyone that misses their pick in the 1st round can be replaced on the spot by anyone who is loud enough to say "I will take that team"

I did have a discussion with the Utah Jazz GM, Scribbles, last week.

I did have a discussion with the Utah Jazz GM, Scribbles, last week.

That leaves the Bucks, Cavs and 76ers as prime candidates to be replaced then... if you believe Scribbles will show up.

My suggestion is to find three replacement guys.  If the Bucks, Cavs and 76ers don't show up in the 5 minutes they are supposed to pick, just let the "alternate" make the pick and take the team.   I know the "skipping picks" thing helps people picking after them, but I should mention that I'm currently picking #16 and #17... and I think I'd feel like a jerk if I just jumped ahead and took my two guys ahead of the 76ers.   So find some alternates, please.

We have a short list of who we want to jump in, but it to is about who shows up.

Also, if you know you are not going to be here for your time slot, couple of things you can do/

1) trade the pick for a pick with times you can be here for.

2) Picks someone to pick for you.  Just let people know they can make the pick.

3) send a list of players you would want to either me or one of the other mods that are playing (Roy, Edgar, Don, IP, Steve)

  • Eagerly Awaiting the Next Fantasy Draft
When is the first time we can pick. Does the 1st pick need to wait until 1? I know that people are allowed to pick earlier than their time but does this go for the start of the draft too? (I had to think of a question to make sure my new avatar works)
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

Dear Prospective Alternates,

If you happen to be lurking this exciting and fun draft and saying to yourself, "gee golly I wish I could participate"... here is your chance.

the Bucks, Cavs, and 76ers are more than likely to be no-shows.   There is a slighter chance the Jazz will be no shows... and a long shot (according to the commish) that the Knicks will be no shows.

Feel free to step up and claim one of those teams as an "alternate" right now.   The commish will place your name in light green marker next to the team name.   You can view our draft board here:

http://www.celticsblog.com/index.php?option=com_smf&Itemid=64&topic=21682.0

The draft starts tomorrow at 1:30pm Eastern time zone.  Feel free to claim a team, but make note of what time that team will be picking.  If the original owner doesn't show up in those 5 minutes, feel free to make the pick for him and take the team on the spot.   Good luck.

Note:  I would also like to suggest that some of the owners who currently have assistants consider talking to their men and offering them the opportunity of being released from their contract if one of those teams becomes available.   I know the Tehran Lakers have two active owners.  Perhaps his assistant would like to become an alternate as one of those teams.  However... at that point it's a darn good thing we have a commish, because of the lakers and 76ers work out some ridiculous trade I'll call shenanigans... ;)

You're not happy dominating the draft, you want to be Assistant Commissioner, too?  ;)

He brings up a good point.  I would suggest just unlocking it tomorrow morning.  If all picks are done before breakfast, so be it... as long as we give each person time to show up by their time limit.

No need to start that early.  What good does it do to have 8 pick selected before 12 when the 9th pick doesn't show up until 10 minutes before their pick is due?

Allows people at work to have flexibility in this online reality.   You're right that I (being in the west coast) could hold up the entire thing by not making my pick until my 5 minute time limit, but... at least those guys who pick 1-7 can have the potential of making their pick earlier and then not stress about being around in the afternoon.

After the 1st round, the next round can start at 7 PM.  (no matter if every pick in the round before is selected)

But no one has to pick until their deadline.

But tomorrow, the draft has a start time.
