Not true.  Google "Paul Pierce gang sign" and you'll get dozens of links to different message boards -- mostly non-Celtics related -- discussing this.

if pierce actually is making a gang sign, he's still an immature [jerk]...

i will never respect paul pierce...ever.  you DO NOT make those kind of gestures...and this coming from a guy who's already been stabbed in his life.  simply ridiculous...

There is no need for either name-calling or masked profanity in this thread.  I'd suggest everybody re-read the posting rules before making further posts in this thread, as further warnings will not be given.  -R.H.

This thread is an embarassment. Paul has had enough misfortune with thugs in his life to even consider using a gang sign. He knows the reprocussions. On the Horford subject, Mike Gorman made a comment in the game 2 blowout that Al was taunting the Celtics bench after scoring in the 3rd quarter to cut the lead to 17. Ray immediately came down the other end and drained a 3. I don't mind emotion but don't show up the other team when you guys are getting waxed.

Agreed, embarrassment. We're supposed to be supporting this guy, after all the time he's given the club this is the first time I've heard anything about Paul flashing gang signs, and even if he did it's so irrelevant I could care less. If that's his environment or if that's an inside thing he has going with the Hawks then let it go, considering nobody knows if he did or did not intend for it to be that, and because the only people talking about it are us, his loyal fans, let it rest. If we can't figure it out neither can the people that shouldn't see it.

I agree.  And it wasn't even a gang sign. ::)  A nine page thread for nothing. LOL

If you look at the video of the sweep of the Texas Triangle, Paul Pierce made this same sign at the end of the game meaning that's all 3:

Check out the very end.

Thanks for posting this.  This should clear up any crazy notion that Pierce was giving some kind of gang sign.  Wow, some people are trying really hard to find something negative about PP. What a shame. :(

I'm not saying it is a gang sign or it isn't, but the video from the Dallas sweep doesn't make much of a difference one way or the other, since it looks like a different hand signal.  Maybe it's just the camera angle is different, but they didn't look the same to me.

9 pages of thread dissecting a 2-3 second time span and hand gesture made by a guy that had just been seriously dissed.

Only Paul Pierce knows what he was doing with his hand and all the rest here is nothing but useless conjecture. It's pretty obvious Pierce will never say exactly what he was doing, so can we please get by this.

I have never seen such an overreaction to a two second hand gesture in my life. I can only imagine how long this thread would have been if he had done something definitive like flip the guy the bird or crotch chopped him.

BTW, good thing BT's boy Scal was there to save the day. We might have had an Auburn Hills Palace broohaha all over again.

yeah...IF pierce actually did indeed flash a gang sign, it's no big deal.  just the way things are today in our culture...we should just accept this and move on.  afterall, there's no such thing as accountability anymore, right?  ::)

The ONLY sign I'm interested in at this point
is the one where Paul does an imaginary golf
swing, thus signaling what the Hawks better
prepare for soon...

From what I recall, Pierce threw up a peace sign as Scal pulled him away. Saying he threw up a gang sign is ridiculous. Now of course it wasn't the hippie love everybody peace sign, it was the i'm gonna get you peace sign. And honestly, if the refs had done their job and called a tech when horford pointed and yelled in pierce's face or when he went out of his way to get the ball after a block and dust it off, I don't think pierce would have reacted this way. The refs need to be more on top of this stuff. The players are going to get caught up in the moment, the refs shouldn't.

It's the playoffs baby! Has everybody already forgotten all the talking, posturing, and yes even fighting that our beloved celtics of the 80's used to get into. It's what happens when you play the same team in a 7 game series. Do you think Bird would have just stood pat if someone got in his face like that and the refs did nothing...not a chance!

This kind of stuff is going on in every series. I'm not saying it is sportsmanlike, but it's what makes the playoffs the playoffs. Sit back an enjoy!

Just saw the pic...not a peace sign but a three for sure.  As in three more games.  This topic is closed for me.

if it WERE a gang sign, does anyone here think for one second that he'd be honest about it?  hardly.

well, unless josh howard and he were hangin' out together and decided to play the high version of truth or dare...
