Wow.  The Knicks just signed pretty much every recognizable NBA veteran free agent left, and all agreed to training camp deals.

They are maximizing championship window instead of extending their playoff participation window. Wish some teams respected the difference.

The Knicks are lucky Brunson agreed to take a large discount. He is making $37M this year. When your best player is making significantly less than they are worth, it is a lot easier to fill out a roster.

Despite Brunson's salary, the Knicks are still outspending the Celts.  And, every player mentioned will be count less against the cap than Ron Harper, Jr. this season.  Similarly, as much as I root for Walsh, I'm not sure that paying him twice the minimum for minimum-level production will be in our best interest next season.

Not sure what you are saying.  Of course it gives NYK a big advantage to have Brunson on a $37M contract, there is no denying that.  But to question whether signing Harper and Walsh over waiting and going after vet min guys like NKY did, that is an entirely different thing.  That is not a question of how much they are willing to spend, but rather just on how you spend.  Of course that is important.  Teams can't afford to waste any contracts these days.  You need to make every contract count.  If Harper and Walsh end up being wasted contracts/roster spots, that will hurt the team.

I think the main point is with Brunsons salary it allows them to put a championship team around him the same way when JB and JT were lower salaries it allowed us to put a championship team around them. This is why we still kept the whole crew together at a high salary the year after we won it all. The sad reality is the last two postseasons have shown the Celtics are not at their level in my opinion. Even with that being said the Knicks clearly sacrificed talent for money as they did not resign Robinson and none of these guys come close to making up for that talent loss.

I continue to disagree.  We'd still be a contender if we'd signed Robinson, added additional help elsewhere, and improved the coaching staff.  But, realistically, the team emphasized staying under the luxury tax rather than winning.

I agree. They could have moved other pieces and picks then been in position like Knicks and 76ers to bargain shop vets.

Brad seems to disagree with that notion. During his year end press conference, he specifically mentioned that the team did not play well against the top teams in the league (3-11 record) and that they had back to back seasons with early playoff exits. I do not think he would have mentioned that if he thought the team was a contender. Robinson is a decent signing, but he isn?t moving the needle that much.

NEWARK, N.J. -- Michael Sweetney, who played four seasons in the NBA with the New York Knicks and Chicago Bulls after a standout college career at Georgetown, has died. He was 43.

I hope Walsh can do for us what Bruce Brown did for the Nuggets during their championship season.

Brad also tells us that he has no set budget and can spend as much as he wants.  In other words, Brad lies.

And, who cares how we played last season, when Tatum was out and or recovering from injury? The core proved time and time again that it is a contending core.

That is fine to believe that and feel that way. I used to until I let Moranis eventually pull me to that side after how the last two postseasons played out with us being bounced early not like we made the ECF.

The part I took from your post about the Knicks was how it seemed like you were implying they were spending more but at similar team levels. A better comparison would be the year after we won it all when we were still above the second apron. We did more to keep our team together when we were contending at the level of the Knicks.

I am not saying bravo to ownership and Brad as it has not been a good offseason.  I just think using the Knicks as a team spending a ton of money competing is just not true as much as you want to be upset with Brad and ownership. The current situations are not the best comparison and the results speak for themselves.

You let Moranis change your point of view?  I'm not even sure how to respond to that, other than that I'm a little bit sad for you, lol.  I don't want to speak poorly of the departed, but that man was out of touch with reality.  I swear his entire online identity is just to troll Celtics fans.
