Sounds like they are cheaping out. Trusting in their management brain power to put together quality supporting casts for Tatum with medium contract vets, small money FAs and young players. That they are not willing to spend big money on multiple stars without being championship favorites.
it's premature to be throwing "the owners are cheaping" out accusations at this point.  I have little doubt goal #1 this coming season is to stay under the cap and reset the repeater tax penalty.

next year with that penalty reset they should be expended to pony up the cash for players but at that point what tools would Brad have to add top players?

Especially in light of the fact that the team tried to trade for Giannis.  That is not exactly cheaping out.

According to The Ringer?s Bill Simmons, folks around him during the French festival noted that Brown appears to have mentally moved on from Boston already. The word on the street on Jaylen in France, and I know multiple people who were either in his vicinity or whatever, is that he was acting like he?s done in Boston, and that this is it, and I don?t think he?s very happy with this, Simmons said during Sunday?s episode of his podcast.

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

It seems that they are unsatisfied with paying JB. That if they are going to pay big money it be for a consensus top 5-10 guy and if not to trim payroll and find a way to add production at a lower price point.

I think these extensions that happen three or four years before the contract is done, are the dumbest thing the league has ever done.
