The Celtics are the only team in the NBA with two super max contracts. With the new CBA they can?t operate this way. This is the main reason they are moving on from Brown. He is not worth a super max contract.

I wish I could envision a scenario that has the Cs bringing back equal or greater value for JB.
None of the trades here feel right. Giannis was a risk worth taking, but I see nothing else that would be.  Finding ways to supplement the Jays feels like the right path, but I think a trade will happen. And knowing me, it will take about 15 minutes post-trade for me to be psyched about it.

Yeah, that player would have been Giannis, but Brad dropped the ball. Should have given the Bucks Hugo and Baylor. Even an extra first rounder and/or swap. Huge miscalculation by Stevens.

Brown, Hugo, Scheierman, 2026 #1, 2027 #1, 2031 #1?

If Giannis was healthy we may have gotten a short-term boost, but we'd still over have the MLE to improve the team, and we'd havr handcuffed our future.  And, with all that, we probably wouldn't have been title favorites.

That's how you commit franchise suicide.

Queta / Garza / Williams
Giannis / Walsh
Tatum / Hauser
White / Harper
Pritchard / ?

No picks in 2026, 2027, 2029, 2031

What would your plan have been?  We'd be hardcapped at the first apron, so we'd basically have the MLE and minimum contracts to fix the worst bench in the NBA.

They could replace Hugo and Baylor with Vet min players. It?s not like those guys were playing big minutes anyway.  They are deep bench players averaging 4-5pts per game. Also, JB and Giannis make the same amount of money, so I don?t see how it is much different than the current situation. Except for Giannis being a superior player.

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

I was reading the Cavaliers sites', a lot of their fans would not trade Mobley for Jaylen but would prefer trading Mitchell instead. Seems interesting

I said Giannis was a risk worth taking, but he is a risk.  No, I wouldn't have wanted Brad to go all-in as you've described.  Might have gone Hugo or Scheierman but I don't blame Brad for being cautious.  Giannis' injury history is concerning -- he's 32 with a lot of wear on his tires. I think Brad was right to hold the line.

Some Cavs fans thoughts on Mobley & Jaylen

Quote
People will poo poo players like [Donovan] Mitchell and [Jaylen] Brown and cry about how they aren't worth the cash when  [Evan] Mobley makes the same or more and gives you less on the court. Off season Mobley is truly the greatest player of all time.

Unpopular opinion in this sub, but I don't like the fit of Mobley and Allen together.

Look at how good Allen played when Mobley was out last year.....I really think there's more growth for Allen and him playing along side Mobley has stunted that.

Bringing in Brown would give us a huge advantage and would also allow Allen to dominate like he's capable of doing.

100% agree that E Mobley has negatively impacted the performance of J Allen. Evan Mobley's bad shooting ability hampers a lot of what CLE do.

So oddly worded lol. I think getting Jaylen would improve our scoring and offensive consistency dramatically but this team is incredibly reliant on leaning on the frontcourt defense, we could end up ironically turning into the Harden Nets who scored a ton but played historically bad defense.

People bring up that he's 30 like he's elderly or something, he's just reaching his apex.
