Yeah it is still happening. Lotta interesting comments including stuff with the new CBA, and also he said they will try to add size this off-season and maybe another player with speed (guard or wing). The size comment though implied he could look at multiple additions not just one

Multiple additions tracks with the roster.  We have 15 players, but several non-guaranteed.  It seems unlikely Banton and Shulga will be on the 15-man next year, and I certainly would not write Williams name in pen, so there are openings as well as financial room.

The biggest thing will be if Brad has had conversations with Brown and both want to go separate ways but Brad cannot find a good enough deal to move Brown.

I think the demand for Brown is nowhere near what these media talking heads have said. And Brad cannot just trade him for spare parts.

In the end it just might be each side realizes the situation and the best path for both is just staying together.

So assuming Cenac signs for the standard 120% of draft slot (about 3.0 million year one), the Celtics will have 15 guys under contract and right around 10 million below the tax. They will have 6 guys on non-guaranteed club options for next year including Queta, Walsh, Banton, Shulga, Harper and Amari Williams.

They could get to full MLE space (15.0 million) and stay below the tax by moving off two of those guys. I imagine Williams and Shulga would be candidates to return on 2-ways if they were cut. I'd also expect to whomever they raft at 40 (if they keep the pick) to get a two-way. John Tonje whom they acquired last year could also return on a two-way.

Trading #40 for future second(s) would not surprise me, Boston is out 2nd rounders in 2027-2030.

I don't feel much differently after hearing Brad than I did before. I think they'll listen, I would lean (60-40) towards him being back next year.

For sure, I don't think you can take too much away from this, but the fact that Brad didn't clearly state we were definitely going to build around Brown and Tatum leaves the door open.

I do think Brad understands that even though Brown's value isn't necessarily as high as he hoped it would be (Giannis), there is not going to be a better time to trade him than now. 3 years left on his contract, top 6 MVP, still 29. Each season after this - especially with him back as Tatum's sidekick - will continue to deplete his value.

I can't imagine Brad is excited to offer Brown a 2yr/$142M extension when there are already questions about our team structure and ceiling after two years of very disappointing playoff finishes. If he doesn't offer that extension, then the clock is ticking on when he'll be traded, not if.

I'm leaning 100/0 Brown is back next year

Stevens has allowed Brown to be a part of several possible trades over the years, each and every time, it has been for a superstar. Kawhi, Durant, Giannis, etc.

Each time Jaylen has returned and come back a better overall player. EACH TIME.

Yes, Brad looked like he might Throw Up!! Look, people are going to hear and see what they want, but to me Brad was acknowledging that this is not a good feel for Brown. When asked if Brown still may be moved he said this is our team. As a sports cameraman, I shot a lot of this kind of stuff and to me, Brad was evading answering anything to do with whether or not he will trade Brown. That is what he is supposed to do! If you say this duo is not going to work anymore, you open the wrong kind of bidding war! One out of Desperation. I will be okay, no matter what happens going forward. Love the Celtics and 2026 was a lot more fun than I thought it would be. Brad is a pretty smart guy, Cautious sometimes to a Fault, but a smart basketball guy. I will just sit back and to enjoy the ride.

My prediction for this offseason

1. Hauser + pick(s) for Gafford OR Isaiah Stewart and fit in with TPE

2. MLE to sign Coby White, Sexton, Grimes or Simons

3. Add a depth big with the veteran minimum (could be Garza reunion)

4. Jaylen, White, PP, Queta, Tatum, Baylor, Hugo, Harper stay put

I still think Cenac is a project and won't be "immediate help", more an end of bench guy for this next season.

The MLE options for a big are Porzingis, Timelord or Mamu, but I think they are gonna have to choose 1 thing with the MLE. Guard/wing or center. They'll probably use it on guard/wing, and trade for a center. Hauser will be traded regardless IMO, even if it's to just offload some money and gain more space to utilize.
