Brad's comments seem a bit interesting.

Yeah it is still happening. Lotta interesting comments including stuff with the new CBA, and also he said they will try to add size this off-season and maybe another player with speed (guard or wing). The size comment though implied he could look at multiple additions not just one

Multiple additions tracks with the roster.  We have 15 players, but several non-guaranteed.  It seems unlikely Banton and Shulga will be on the 15-man next year, and I certainly would not write Williams name in pen, so there are openings as well as financial room.

Brad looks so uncomfortable answering questions following the draft. Yeesh.

Yep, that's about the most combative I've ever seen Brad.

Brad is talking to the media. Will not go into details on the Giannis stuff, which to be fair is usually his M.O. even in the past he does not disclose this stuff on Draft times.

He also said Jaylen is a big part of this team going forward and he has conversations with him throughout.

The fact that Jaylen was not traded tonight signals to me he is staying. I mean, would they trade him for just role players and picks NEXT year? No thanks. The rumors were they would get back players as well as some picks in this first round but now it is over. Jaylen is staying

Brad was noncommittal on weather Brown would be here this season. I?ve never seen him that anxious during an interview.

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

The biggest thing will be if Brad has had conversations with Brown and both want to go separate ways but Brad cannot find a good enough deal to move Brown.

I think the demand for Brown is nowhere near what these media talking heads have said. And Brad cannot just trade him for spare parts.

In the end it just might be each side realizes the situation and the best path for both is just staying together.

That May meeting with Brown signaled from JB that he was ok with being traded and probably wanted to be. None of this has been a surprise to him. I

I think Brad felt he could get Giannis but that fell through and now he looks a bit anxious because he cannot find a deal.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism

Yeah, I think people who definitely want to keep Jaylen saw one thing, and those who are okay moving on saw another. I don't think this was particularly reassuring.

Was asked: "Is Jaylen Brown going to be on this team at the beginning of next season?"

Answered: "Jaylen Brown is a big part of us. I'm never going to predict the future but everything I think about over the past few years has been building around those guys"

Goes on to say basically you never know how things play out but Brown's always been highly valued.

I get that he speaks highly of Brown here, but 'never going to predict the future,' and all the past tense stuff isn't wonderful for his prospects. We just lost out on Giannis yesterday, which then immediately led into the draft. I am still pretty disappointed about Giannis and not sure what the best path is moving forward, but we are far from being out of the woods on this one. Still lots of time to make a deal. We were never getting a top 4 pick in this draft anyway.

Ah, Colin Cowherd, patron saint of hot takes.
