I am a fan of the KISS principle.... make it Brown, #27, Scheierman, and Hauser for Giannis and Portis.  Do it Brad!

This actually makes me think it's not happening, he's going to Miami

League sources say the Bucks want to remain competitive next season. They don?t outright own any of their firsts until 2031, and even if they did, the flattened draft odds don?t incentivize teams to bottom out. And the best player on the table is, by far, Jaylen Brown.

I mean, if this is true, then the Celtics are clearly in the driver's seat.  Nobody else is offering close to a top-15 player that I'm aware of.

That said, there's so much Boston momentum at this point that it almost seems like it's being put out there by the Bucks to get Miami (and potentially Minnesota) to up their offers.

Feel like the only way Miami could match what the Celtics have to offer is if they had their trade centered around Bam and not Herro.

Honestly this was my first reaction too. The twitter updates make it feel like its Boston any second now, Himmelsbach made it seem like its unclear. But maybe Himmelsbach is just out of the loop on this one.

That may well be the offer on the table right now and MIL may well be holding out asking for Hugo over Scheierman and sending back Kuzma over Portis.

These deal never turn out how I expect but this would be my guess right now.

A friend bought this up and I realize it's true. Has Tatum said anything at all this offseason? Seems kinda telling, he hasn't said anything at all despite all the rumors, speculation and smoke. Nothing like saying Jaylen is his guy and here to stay, etc. Even in recent years and the 2022 Durant rumor-season, Tatum would be vocal and say him and Jaylen are tight and it's all just rumors. Not even many social media posts or stories, he's been dead silent.

Riley's got to make this trade, doesn't he? He's 82 years old and watched four different East teams win the title in the past decade and none of them were Miami. He's dropped the ball chasing other big names recently and the team has been stuck in play-in mode for years.  I'd be livid if I was a Heat fan and Giannis got away too.

Seems very lukewarm and kind of sounds like it's giving them an out.

Himmelsbach is the "Shams" of the Celtics reporters at least and is up there with him strictly on Celtics stuff, when he speaks everyone listens.

I mean you can also say Stevens has to make the trade. The Bucks want to squeeze everything they can out of moving GA. The Celtics have the better package to offer, Riley has to work with what he has. Tyler Hero, yuk, I mean he is okay, but no one was talking about him being league MVP last year!! Let's be real, plus their pics are not great, especially future pics if they did land GA, future pics are poo poo! I think the Bucks are using Miami to squeeze More out of the Celtics!

Nah, Miami is definitely more desperate. Their main player asset is an expiring contract whom the Heat might not even like to extend.  They have to do something this summer.  The Celtics would like to do something, but there is not the same urgency.  Even if Jaylen is asking out there are plenty of teams who would give up a fair bit for him.  Giannis is the only star looking to force their way to Miami right now.  He is is the only option.

Yeah Miami has whiffed on so many people in the past (Durant, Holiday, Lillard, etc.) and that fanbase is getting restless. I've also noticed online, a lot of Sixers and Heat fans are ticked that in the past decade, the Celtics, Raptors, Bucks and now Knicks have won it all (rivals) but not them.

If you look at the 2027 potential FA class too, most of those guys are likely signing extensions with their own teams, or the few that will be available would be past their prime (Butler, Curry, Kawhi). Maybe someone like Trae Young shakes loose but he's very likely signing an extension soon anyways. Mitchell maybe an option, but maybe not depending on if CLE re-signs him.

If they don't get Giannis this season either I'm not seeing a path for them to get to the playoffs unless they work magic in the offseason, but if they are building around Herro/Bam that's underwhelming in an East that is improving. Tatum/Brown is still better than the Heat, so there's that fallback for BOS.

I dont think Brad has to make this trade, but he should. It gives the Celtics the best chance to win another championship. Like you said, The Celtics can offer the best trade package since Miami is refusing to move Bam. If the Celtics are not able to get Giannis this is 100% on Brad. Hopefully he gets it done.
