Shams "Two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo is ready for a new home at the Feb. 5 NBA trade deadline or in the offseason"

If at the deadline this should/could create alot of player movement and help the Cs jump into a trade for a big. If the Bucks blow it up Portis is a nice fit.

My first thoughts are what package can Portland offer to reunited him with Jrue and Dame? Do the Spurs offer a Harper based trade to pair him with Wemby?

Shams Charania: Two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo is ready for a new home at the Feb. 5 NBA trade deadline or in the offseason as several rival teams make aggressive offers to the Milwaukee Bucks for him, and the franchise is starting to listen, league sources tell ESPN.

I would think they'd get a better return in the off-season, but who knows?

If I'm Milwaukee, one of my first calls is to Boston to see if they'd deal JB this summer.

LOL at people still wanting to ship out a guy who gives his all for this team, has stepped up this year and does so much for the Boston Community.  JB should not go anywhere.  Even for Giannis.

Hate to see JB go, but that?s a deal you do every day as long as there is reason to believe Gianni?s health won?t be a problem.   Problem I see is that it does nothing for Milwaukee. JB can?t lead the Bucks to a championship and he?s closing in on 30.  I would think the Bucks would want a young star - like Harper.

have to agree that if Milwaukee ships out Giannis they'd be looking for at least one young top prospect (if not 2) and as much draft capital as possible.  Unless Jokic or SGA were on the table, there's no one else that could really be offered that would keep them at their current level so they'd have to be looking at a rebuild.

Only teams I can think of that might have the assets to make that happen are SAS and OKC, possibly Orlando

don't do it -- hold firm at Boucher or Tillman.  Maybe both if they insist  ;)

Preach.  I think he's earned some loyalty by this point.  Fanbase throws him in every half-assed trade proposal for every disgruntled star year after year and then wonders why he feels the need to defend his accomplishments in front of a microphone.

We don't have the young assets or draft capital to be players for Giannis anyway, I'd think.  I like Hugo but he's not the caliber of prospect who could headline a deal for a superstar.  It would require a lot of creativity getting extra teams involved, and I'm not intelligent enough where cap rules are concerned to puzzle out that kind of idea.

Do the Warriors have enough future draft picks to make a run at Giannis? Using Jimmy's contract as a makeweight.

Brown for Giannis is the obvious starting point but I am not sure that is what MIL would be looking for.  Brown is already 29.  By the time MIL has rebuilt with draft picks, Brown will be on the backside of his career.  I see them targeting younger talent.

But if MIL would do this, I don't know.  I am not sure that Giannis will be better than Brown over the next say 3-4 years.  You would have to be really sure about his recent injury trend, sure that it isn't going to continue.  But if somehow you could be sure about his health, yes Healthy Giannis > Healthy Brown.

Butler is now a negative contract. The Bucks won't be able to retrade him by the end of it.

I did think about Kuminga as the core of the trade package. The Warriors own all their own 1sts, and the could trade Moody and Podz.

Salaries get tricky though. The only realistic way it could work is if Green is also in the trade, and probably rerouted to a third team.

Plus, I can't imagine Giannis sees that as the opportunity for the last phase of his prime. Steph is not who he once was, Butler is recovering from ACL, and that roster would be depleted.

However, I did think about this idea:

Warriors get Derrick White, Coffee

Celtics get Giannis, Thanasis, Anthony

Bucks get Kuminga, Podz, Simons, Hauser, and Hield, 1 first from Warriors, 2 1sts from Celtics

Warriors - Realistically with their cap situation, White is the best player they will be able to get, especially with Kuminga' value right now. They get him for one last push with their core next year.

Bucks get two solid prospects, a 20 ppg guard, vets that can fill their rotation or traded for draft assets, and 3 1st rounders for Giannis.

Celtics get Giannis. We have the best big 3 in the league.

Looks like they have most of their own first round picks except for 2030 but have traded most of their seconds.  So in theory (if I understand the rules correctly) they could trade Butler, three firsts and three swaps.

I think some teams could do better than that, but I do admit that grabbing future firsts from Golden State would be interesting.  Curry only has so much left in him and there's a high chance that the Warriors suck for a few years when he's done.  In fact, it's fair to question whether the deal would be worth it from GS's perspective.  Does Curry have enough left to justify delaying a rebuild by several years in favor of going for it one last time, knowing that it probably condemns GS to three or four years of NBA purgatory when he hangs them up?

I'd do that trade but I don't think Milwaukee would consider Kuminga and Podz to be sufficient building blocks to go with 3 scorers.  I think they'd be a playoff team but without the top  end talent to make a real run at it.
