If Tatum is out for most of next season, this squad is only a 45 win caliber team without him.

We'd probably still make the playoffs as a play-in seed, or a sub .500 team.

screw that

This summer is going to be very eventful for the Cs. I am taking calls on Brown. His act has been worn out in Boston. Just not a consistent player.

This is bs from all of you blaming JB for JT?s injury.  That is idiotic and I know all of you are mad at Brown because he played poorly, but he didn?t cause JT?s injury.  grow up.

I don't know what happened to this place over the years.  The discussion here has become toxic and vitriolic as hell, even in wins.  I feel like this isn't a healthy way to consume sports.

completely toxic.  i want the C?s to win just as badly as all of us, but the crap being thrown around tonight.  unreal.

Regardless I would move Porzingis this offseason even if we have to attach a few 2nds. This is the second straight year he's been useless in the postseason and not reliable. I'd rather get clarity and find another big to move forward with than just keep KP around. Horford isn't gonna remain here forever either, and he's 38

Tatum?s injury puts the whole game in series in context. If he?s out all of next year, that surely changes Brad?s calculus in terms of managing his cap. They may punt on some older guys like KP and holiday and try to reset with some younger players since JT and JB are still young and have a chance for another window. But if he?s injured the whole season and maybe part of 2026/27 then this window is definitely closed. We might?ve been able to still make a push if KP was healthy and JB was not so inconsistent but with KP passenger as well and Hauser out affecting our depths, we will just be one of many instead of ahead of the pack.

You absolutely clean house if you're the Celtics, and I think that even means Brown, as realistically you can't keep both him and JT long-term on super-maxes anyways. He can bring the most back in a deal.

See if you can get the younger Jalen Johnson and send JB home to Atlanta. Then see if you can get anything for KP. We're likely stuck with Jrue's contract anyways, and he'd be a good vet that we can keep around for the younger guys.

Can?t be bad for long. Spurs have our 2028 pick

I'm honestly just sick of Jaylen Brown tbh. I guess he's been hurt, but he's been hurt for like 3 months now (and KP has been sick for like 3 months). He somehow still can't dribble the ball after 9 years in the league. It's a travesty that he won FMVP over Tatum last year in an easy short 5 game series.

The team didn't have any of the magic they had last year. They've consistently been great in even years and bad in odd years, so it's no surprise. But I guess that streak is about to end with no Tatum next year

That's how we lost in the 2022 NBA Finals. His turnovers. His poor handles. 9 years in the league and you still have dribbling issues; out of here with that garbage

yep the turnovers that series were TERRIBLE

Brown has not been good in these playoffs but you can go cry yourself to sleep knowing he was our best player last postseason and that?s a huge reason why Tatum just got injured and we lost games we never should?ve lost against the absolute garbage Knicks?brown just isn?t the player he was last postseason

Brown was utterly terrible tonight. His turnovers had a big hand in this loss. Don't blame him for the JT injury although he put JT is a tough spot.

If it is an Achillies he is done for next season at the least. Esp this late in the season.

Have a feeling a reset is coming soon. Al, KP, Jrue and Hauser all being moved.

Next season will be PP, White and Brown will be your core and they will be a lottery team.

I mean if they trade all of Al, KP, Jrue Hauser and get nothing back then probably.

If they generally keep the team together I think they'd still win close to 50 even without Tatum, but if he's out all of next year they for sure are tarding one of KP or Jrue for tax purposes.

Literally zero reason to be in the 2nd apron next year. Everything they do this offseason has now shifted to saving money and bringing in a younger core to go with Tatum in the future. This is dire. We are still in shock. Our elite, top 5, franchise player likely just suffered a career altering injury. Next year is a complete wash, but we need to hope that we didn't just suddenly turn into the Sixers

Ya I think the most likely outcome is a Jrue or Porzingis trade to get back under the 2nd apron. retool around Tatum/Brown/White as your core with a more dispersed 4-10 salary wise.

But we'll see, getting a bit ahead of ourselves.

I'm fine with that. The big question is, who is our PF/C of the future? Horford will likely retire in two years as well, they need someone. I don't mind Kornet as a backup but that's it.

Waiting for the other shoe to drop when JB needs offseason knee surgery. He has not looked right in weeks.

Might be down both your max players next season.

Tatum choked in those finals is the reason we lost. Brown was our best player in that series and the clear reason we are losing in the second round this year is because he?s a shell of himself

I would also prefer to blow it up if the injury is that bad. But blowing it up is not easy. Trying to find teams to take on the salaries of a Jrue, KP or Brown especially when their values are not high is not going to result in much return at all. It?s possible we have to include something to trade those salaries honestly. Just not in a good spot which is crazy to think how quickly the trajectory of this team has just changed.

If you are trading multiple players, it becomes a lot easier to clear money in each trade. Maybe we'll need/get some help from a third team with smaller contracts coming back, but if we can clear $10M each in trades for JB/KP/Jrue, that'll give us a lot of breathing room.

If we're not trying to salary dump an entire contract like Jrue's, it becomes a lot more appealing to other teams...other than KP anyway, but at least we got two 1sts to take him on.
