New: A league source confirmed to MassLive that Celtics made no further moves today after Jaden Springer deal Wednesday. A look at the options for the team now after a busy deadline around the league:

Buyout market it is. Or Lonnie Walker. Or both  :)

I sure hope we go in the buyout market. We can't hang with the top competitors in the East who have also shored up their depth. Sam Hauser is iffy esp when his shots are not falling, so other than Pritchard we have no reliable backups

So Al doesn't count?

Lol - classice Celtic fans. We arguably have the best bench in the NBA.

Poor Marcus

yeah, I feel bad for Smart.   Who wants to go to the Wizards?  Hopefully they will buy him out and he can go somewhere else?

Maybe something else already happened, I am always behind in the fast moving trade stuff.

I don't get this trade.  Why WAS would do it and why MEM would do it.  MEM didn't really get anything back, two young players who have done nothing and have given no indication they ever will do anything, albeit expiring, so many that is it.  I guess WAS gets a 2025 first from MEM, but all the other pieces are largely irrelevant.  Actually SAC getting Jake LaRavia is the one player that may actually contribute at some level.

Marcus is under contract through the end of 2025-26 so I don't think he gets bought out.  Maybe WAS can get him on the court and get some value back with an off season trade.

Washington Wizards announce they have waived guard Reggie Jackson.

The Houston Rockets are waiving Jaden Springer, league sources told @hoopshype.

Jake Fischer @JakeLFischer

It's gonna be K.J. Martin, Josh Richardson and a 2028 second-round pick from Detroit to Utah, source says.

Roy H had an update above that they are waiving Josh Richardson but keeping KJ Martin.

One last piece of deadline housekeeping: League source says Rockets will waive newly acquired Jaden Springer to have roster spot for the subsequent Cody Zeller trade.

Ah, they waived Springer in order to keep C Zeller.

I'd rather have Springer.

More on guard glut: Multiple teams are under impression Bulls want to keep Ayo Dosunmu.(Not saying they don?t want to keep others. Just have heard from several teams specifically about Ayo) Also, not only is Tre Jones poised to survive deadline but could stick beyond his expiring

Lol Bob Myers just accidentally leaked that the Grizzlies were trying to get KD

Anyone know more about this? What did Bob Myers say?

Kamenetzky Brothers @KamBrothers

Sure, it might seem bad at first glance that the Suns alienated Kevin Durant, unsuccessfully begged Bradley Beal to leave, and essentially lit their 2031 pick on fire... but it's nothing another series of insanely reckless decisions under Mat Ishbia can't fix.

I saw an ESPN video by Ramona Shelbourne that was titled PHX's locker room is now toxic. Sounds like this trade deadline did a number on them.

I would be very surprised if Smart gets bought out this year, the Wiz will keep him and try to use him as an expiring contract this summer to bring on bad money and get more draft picks. Maybe he can even actually play for them and rebuild his value a bit, no real reason to just cut him.

As a side note: A lot of people are bringing up Theis as a buyout target, but the C's already have like 5 center options. I'd imagine they'll look for more of a wing type like Lonnie Walker or Torrey Craig.

NBA on ESPN @ESPNNBA

"Sources tell me Ben Simmons, the three-time All-Star, and the Brooklyn Nets are working on a potential contract buyout to make him a free agent." @ShamsCharania says the Clippers and the Cavs are potential suitors for Simmons

I don't know what LAC and CLE think Ben Simmons can add to either of their teams. Just stay away. He will only make you worse.

So the Wizards are now:

G: M Brogdon, Bud Carrington
G: J Poole, M Smart, Kispert
F: B Coulibaly, AJ Johnson
F: K Middleton, Kyshawn George
C: A Sarr, R Holmes

Light on big men. No real PF. 4 SFs. Some decent players in the backcourt.

The Oklahoma City Thunder are converting two-way guard Ajay Mitchell to a two-year, $6 million contract, agents Todd Ramasar and Mike Simonetta of Life Sports Agency told ESPN. Mitchell, the No. 38 pick in the 2024 Draft, has played a vital rotation role for the 40-9 Thunder.

Will Lonnie Walker get minutes?  If so, will he take Hauser minutes or will his minutes be to provide rest for starters down the stretch?  Is he someone likely to make a playoff rotation?  Is he better or worse than Oshe or Javonte?  Lonnie strengths and weaknesses? His time here was brief and without an actual regular season game.

And is he realistically the target or is that blind speculation?
