Jaren Jackson Jr got the $345mil supermax deal.

In the series with OKC, he played 34 minutes a game putting up 16.2ppg 5.0rpg 1.5apg 0.5bpg. He shot 38% from the field, 36% fom three with about half of his shots coming from three, and was 19-19 from the FT line. 48% TS%. He had 11 turnovers vs 6 assists in the 4 games.

Ja Morant (47.5% TS%) and Desmond Bane (43.8% TS%) fared little better. It was their role players like Aldama, Scottie Pippen Jr, and Zach Edey that had acceptable scoring efficiency.

Still, that is miserable production & efficiency for a guy earning $345 million. JJJ needs to be better than that. He deserves more criticism for his poor performances than he is getting.

This is incorrect.  He is eligible to sign that deal in July, taking effect in 2026.  This year he is earning $25.3 million and next year he is getting $23.4 million, which are relative bargains.

Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but his eligibility for the Supermax is conditioned upon him making All-NBA, correct?

Lillard is probably gonna miss a good chunk of next season just like Kyrie. Maybe returns early 2026 for a 2nd half + playoff push for a team.

Not much, but Dame himself might ask out and I do think some teams would be interested. Like if Miami strikes out on Durant and others, they may want to add Lillard. They might also be able to pull it off without needing Wiggins/Herro/Bam since Lillard is hurt and has a big contract, but nothing long term (2/112M).

I'm just thinking out loud lol. I am becoming more convinced Giannis is gonna ask out this summer. Either that or Doc gets fired and they try to make another move but idk what else they can realistically do. Lillard getting hurt also hurts them if they wanted to dangle him for another trade.

Wow, that is horrible.  I am sad for Lillard (a truly great player), I am sad for Giannis (he deserves better), I am even sad for Doc Rivers.  This team is probably going to be blown up now.  Beyond Giannis, they have pretty much nothing.  Kuzma is a dud, Lopez is on borrowed time, Portis is solid but they need way more than him.

As hard as it will be for the franchise, I think they will be forced to move on from Giannis.  They should be able to get a haul for him and start the rebuilt.  I don't think there is time or contractual flexibility to rebuild around him.  He is still a great player, top 3 at worst.  And Doc is not the coach for a rebuilding team.
