I can't believe anyone would watch the NBA All-Star weekend when it was going against SNL 50. Saturday night on Peacock, there was a concert, where past SNL artist performed. Then last night, they had the 50th anniversary show.

I can't believe anyone would watch the NBA All-Star weekend regardless of what else was going on. ;D

You got me there.

I'd rather rewatch the Tom Brady Superbowl Marathon minus the Giants and Eagles games than that boring ASG weekend

Did y'all see this highlight?

Ricky Davis 2.0

Happened last season but must have flown under the radar. Bad sportsmanship.

Bit of a rant.

But for all the talk about ratings declining because "too many 3s, etc.", that joke of an All-Star game and the shenanigans that went on before and during it were awful. You see the NHL with the amazing Four Nations tournament going on, and then contrast that to this game where Lebron James and Ant are "load managing", and then there was barely any basketball played. And FFS, they had a ceremony IN THE MIDDLE of a game which clearly ticked off the players and then even the players fully stopped caring afterwards.

And Kevin Hart + Mr. Beast. What are they doing there?? Hart is an overrated, tryhard comedian to begin with and it was so obvious SGA and others were annoyed when he was talking shots at them (not even funny ones). Mr. Beast was also being annoying to the contestant and even Lillard seemed annoyed at him and tried to let the contestant win. But more importantly, why is Mr. Beast even involved in this??

I loved Oscar Robertson taking a shot at Draymond too. I mean it's pretty rich for Draymond to basically call the Rising Stars "trash" and also cash checks that Curry likely can't cash. It's so weird to me that TNT has Draymond Green billed as the "next big thing" with analysis/commentary, he SUCKS.

Adam Silver is ruining the NBA with his gimmicks and even his "thoughts". The big thing too is, he and Lebron are clearly buddies. Silver literally said if he was a player, he would "stop complaining about officiating" while Steph Curry rightfully blamed officiating and made a point that they should be "graded" on their performance kind of like umpires with the "ump scorecard". And a bit of a biased take, but if David Stern were still in the NBA, no way Doncic goes to the Lakers, but Adam Silver doesn't care and wants to help Lebron and the Lakers too. Silver is becoming another problem in this league. He's reaching Manfred level incompetence.

One more thing. If Lebron wasn't gonna play in this game, WHY NOT SAY THAT EARLIER AND LET SOMEONE ELSE LIKE SABONIS OR POWELL GET A SPOT AND PLAY??? Between that and him also ducking the Dunk Contests constantly, it's hard not to lose some respect for him. I don't hate Curry either but ultimately I think when Lebron/Curry retire the league will reset a bit and it's needed. Enough with those guys and constantly pumping them up. Tatum should have won MVP easily last night but it went to Curry because he's 36 and the game was in the Bay.

Rant over.

I?m with RR. All-star weekend provides nothing for me. No interest.  Watched none of it. I don?t blame others for being entertained by it, but for me it?s got nothing.  Along with the in-season tournament.  I?d be fine with players getting a mid-season break - probably a good idea.

The games themselves were fairly entertaining.  All of the rest of it -- particularly Kevin Hart and that really long break -- were terrible.  Then after the break, all the players just started clowning.

I watched for Brown and Tatum. If there wasn't a Celtics player in the game, I wouldn't have watched at all.

Completely agree.

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

Thoughts?

Basketball is an American sport, and because of that, Stephen A. Smith doesn?t think that Victor Wembanyama can be the face of the league even if he is the best player in the NBA. My personal opinion is I don?t believe an international player can be the face of the NBA, Smith said on Tuesday. I know they?re global, iconic figures, their popularity extends globally, but the NBA is an American born sport, and it needs to resonate in America, and if it doesn?t resonate in America, then it?s not going to matter to America, how you resonate beyond and so that?s just my mentality. That?s how I think about it, not to say they can?t be popular but I just think about it that way.via Clutch Points

Welp, good luck with that.  The top tier of players are almost exclusively foreign at this point.  Joker, Luka, Giannis, SGA.  The most exciting up and comer is Wemby.  I don't see the marketing switching to Tatum unless he wins B2B.

Maybe next year!

Marc Stein: Lonnie Walker IV will finish this season with Lithuania?s BC ?algiris, according to his agent George S. Langberg of GSL Sports Group. Walker, 26, plans to return to the NBA next season. He had an NBA buyout in his EuroLeague deal through Feb. 18.

It would have been nice to sign him for that. Basically they have him on a minimum deal for next season.

Yeah but I can understand it for Lonnie. He'll definitely get more minutes there given their situation and potential tank where a bunch of guys begin to sit or get shut down, and he could translate that into a bigger potential contract 1 or 2 years from now.
