I think NOP can be a contender but only if Zion Williamson plays like the star he once projected to be. Ingram and McCollum aren't good enough to be the primary stars, but I think they are good enough to be the complementary stars. The problem isn't them, the problem is that Zion is looking less and less likely to ever be the star he projected to be.
I recall seeing flashes from Zion over the years where he showed what all the hype was about. But he has never been able to sustain it for more than weeks or months here and there, certainly not a whole season.
It is a tough call for NOP. They see Zion every day so have a lot more information than us fans, but how long do you keep waiting for him, keep paying him to not play. He is only 24 but I think I would punt on him at the point. Cut your losses. Try to trade him, maybe the Lakers or someone would bite, if not, cut him loose and rebuild. Maybe trade one of Ingram or McCollum too.
